Escape to the OTHER Châteaux
When we retired from the business world we decided that we were ready for a complete life change so we moved to Normandy, France. That’s where our path was plotted thanks to Dick and Angel Strawbridge and Channel 4’s Escape to the Château and Escape to the Château DIY.
Our Escape to the Château DIY Map has become hugely popular because it shows the location of each and every one and also links to a detailed information page for easy access to their website and email. IN ADDITION, we have identified many OTHER Chateaux across the Regions of France where you will find fairytale castles just waiting to share their accommodation for individual or family holidays as well as to celebrate that special occasion.
We bought a home in the Suisse Normande which (though not a château) has bags of quirky character features. So what does it call for? Shabby chic, Art Deco, and recycled decorator pieces all of which have become hugely in vogue thanks to Dick and Angel. So on this site (and on our page) we’ll share our brocante shopping adventures with you as well as our trials (and tribulations) in creating French shabby chic for our “maison en France”. We’re looking for your input and invite you to submit your own photographic triumphs as well as DIY tips to share with our readers.
We are mindful of the importance of a balance of fun, fitness and relaxation and we have set about find Escapes to the OTHER Chateaux where people have the unique opportunity to come and lose themselves in the beauty and tranquility of a château in France.
