In case you were wondering why the florist has been closed… I’m not sunning myself somewhere… Just after Christmas we got the keys to a cafe in Colchester City center… we’ve been working really REALLY hard ever since and things are starting to take shape! Introducing Roots & Grooves Cafe I’m very pleased we are doing this with our lovely friends and super talented chef Matt Brown and Karli Brown. It’s bringing together the best of us all! You’ll be pleased they are in charge of all things foody… Me with Plants (Roots) Baz Briggs and his obsession for Vinyl and all things music (grooves)! We even made space for my neighbours from Brightlingsea high street Wishing Wells Vintage! Opening 25th January!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... a little early? Perhaps, but I've got to get it done while I have the time... and I think we could all do with an extra special Christmas! The order book is now open, wreaths table decorations, gifts and much more... come in and see all the Christmas goodies... normal flower and plant gifts are still available all year!

A privilege to be the chosen florist again by the mayor and mayoress of Colchester for today’s annual Oyster Feast, in the beautiful Moot Hall at Colchester’s Town Hall. Their mayoral year celebrates and supports diversity and inclusiveness and they wanted the flowers to reflect this. We used exotic foliages, Bird of paradise and protea teamed with Astilbe, garden roses, Dahlia and ilex berries to create vibrant designs reflective of their chosen charities and the towns rich heritage.

The colours really popped in the Moot Hall and drew out colours in the stained glass, art works and guilding in the architecture. Hoping the official photographs are better than mine!

We will be closed from 3pm today (Thursday) as we go to deliver the flowers for the annual Colchester Oyster Feast at the Town Hall. It’s an all hands on deck job, so no one left for the shop I’m afraid.

Win Win Win!!!! Beautiful Flowers!!

Lovely people of Brightlingsea, it’s come to my attention that there’s some confusion as to where we are based and what we are called… so I’m introducing myself again and giving you the chance to win a beautiful autumnal hand tied bouquet at the same time!

We are Willow Hill Flowers, we are based on the corner of the High Street and Tower Street. My name is Amy, I’ve been a florist since I was 16 and I love Plants, having as well as my floristry degree trained as a grower. Which is why my florist is also a plant lovers paradise full of house plants.

I’ve been lucky enough in my career to travel and teach for the British Florist Association, and Floral Fundamentals, as well as to win medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower show “Florist of the year” competition, and was nominated as “fresh talent in horticulture” by the RHS in 2013.

I bring all this experience and expertise to everything I do, and I love my shop and the community I’m lucky enough to be part of.

Brightlingsea is lucky enough to have a few florists, but this is me… to end the confusion…
