So, that’s me done. My final event has taken place and my retirement is the next occasion for me to celebrate. I’ve had a lovely time running The Creation Station Chesterfield, so thank you all for being part of the adventure ✂️🎨✏️❤️

ONE WEEK TODAY The Plastic Free Festival 2023 returns to New Square Chesterfield with an incredible family fun day out with no single-use plastics and a festival atmosphere!
Joining us on the day will the wonderful Deirdre and The Creation Station Chesterfield who are returning from last year to once again run a make your own festival masks craft workshop PLUS NEW for this year - Make a Promise – wooden, hanging shapes will be provided with materials for decorating one side with the other side to have a promise written for your hopes to help to develop a plastic free future. Free and all materials provided!
Come and have a go whilst enjoying live music performances, tasty food and drink and great local products on sale!

Does your child love to sing? The Crooked Spire is hosting a Be a Chorister for the Day event on Saturday 19th August. It's an excellent opportunity for children to experience the thrills of singing and being part of a church choir.

One month to go until The Plastic Free Festival 2023! A free family fun day out where you can purchase products, food and drink all without any ! Enjoy a fantastic day on the market, with live performances, tasty food and drink, and stunning products for sale.
Headlining the festival is North Ridge, playing all your favourite rock, indie and twisted pop covers! Get on your dancing shoes and join us for a day you won't forget!
To save on waste please bring your own bags, containers, cutlery, and cups. Cups will be available to use at the event for a small deposit, which you can get back when you return to the traders.

At Walton Holymoorside Primary KS2 Create Club we used ‘experiment sheets’ to try out ideas of drawing dogs. It got us really thinking and being creative 👍🤩🎨

And how did I forget to let you know about this tremendous event happening on Sunday. I will be there in a browsing capacity along with my daughters and a couple of grandchildren. Yep, crafty family 🤣
We can’t wait for next Sunday 21st May and Crafters Bazaar on Chesterfield market. There are over 50 stalls booked. Local artists and crafters will be de-cluttering their stash of art and craft materials, tools etc. Come and buy what they no longer need.
Examples of things on sale include: fabric, yarn, card, paper, threads, jewellery making supplies, paints, brushes, pencils, crayons, sewing tools, knitting and crochet pins, ribbons, patterns, glass off-cuts, rubber stamps, dies, punches, cake making equipment, decoupage papers, buttons, zips, wood, beads, lace, sea glass, embroidery threads, stencils, card making equipment and supplies, tool boxes, inks, vintage fabric and haberdashery, old craft magazines and craft books and more...
The 50+ stall holders have experience in knitting, crocheting, mixed media, needlecraft, paper craft, jewellery making, painting, upcycling, textile art, spinning, card making, bookbinding, candle making, printing, dyeing, felting, macrame, collage, quilting, patchwork, embroidery, decoupage, soap making, lace making and rag rug making.
Anyone interested in crafts or in starting crafting will find a wealth of advice from this diverse group of artists and crafters.

We worked hard on our comics at Old Hall Create Club today. A VERY popular session with all my groups this term ✏️
At Walton Holymoorside KS2 Create Club we were drawing 🐉. And as they are imaginary creatures, what ever we drew was correct in every detail 😄

Westfield Infants’ Create Club took their inspiration from the collages of Eric Carle. Who he? Well if I said ‘hungry caterpillar’ would that help?
We made our own collage papers and used bubble wrap to print onto tissue paper. Then we cut and tore the papers to make our pictures ✂️

Creative Doodles with Walton Holymoorside juniors today. The children were very enthusiastic and I loved seeing their ideas growing 🎨
Create Club at Westfield Infants Y1 children looked at Dick Bruna for inspiration today. They found out the colours that Bruna loved to use and the one colour that he NEVER used. The children tried Dick Bruna’s method of drawing in pencil before going over the pencil with black lines.

Our inspiration was Brian Wildsmith an amazing artist from South Yorkshire. We focused on detail and using strong colours to achieve some fabulous artwork

Saturday night was spent doing crafts with a lovely group from the Encephalitis Society at the hard to find Hollowford Centre close to Castleton. But I knew it’s secret location…
Weaving week is always interesting. Although it’s just ‘in front, behind’ over and over again, it can take a bit of time to get the hang of it. Great work Old Hall and Brimington Juniors 👍🧺😀
