A very cold day yesterday scouting for props at a Vide Grenier to use at my retreats and weddings for floral decorations. These charming bits are just two of the items I bought. The oblong, enamel container used to be a 'packed lunch tin' ( wouldn't get much in there!) and the other was a mustard jar, both vintage and both will look utterly gorgeous amongst other objet d'art filled with seasonal flora. I love a rummage looking for unique items to use. #sustainablefloristry #savedfromlandfill #frenchflorist #destinationflorist #weddingsinfrance #weddingsinukandabroadr blossom_with_laura www.blossomwithlaura.com

An everlasting heart... (maybe for Valentine's Day) or just because ...
Handmade from branches, twigs and roots, I have kept the decoration of mint washed vine and lichen moss very simple as there is so much detail and hard work in the frame, a glass file hold a dried red rose within and is tied with a velvet ribbon. The heart has a rope to hang from on a door or wall or it will sit on a shelf or on a chair. The size is approximately 50 cm in length x 54 cm across × 20 cm depth. I have made just another 2 frames, if you would like one of them dressed a particular colour, please let me know. Available at Vie Nostalgique, 8 Rue des
Américains, 61160 Gouffern en Auge

Here in France ‘All Saints’ Day (or La Toussaint ) is a Christian day of remembrance of all saints and martyrs, including those saints who don’t have a feast day named after them.
It is also known as All Hallows Day and the Feast of All Saints, it is celebrated every year on 1 November. All Saints’ Day actually begins at sundown on the evening before – Hallowe’en, or All Hallow’s Eve. It is followed by All Souls’ Day on 2 November.
Although it is a day when ‘all saints’ are remembered, many people also make it a day to visit the graves of family members. Graves are usually visited on All Souls’ Day but, as the public holiday is on 1 November, this is the day most people go. They usually visit towards the end of the day as families and light candles and leave chrysanthemums on the graves. The cemeteries across France take on the rainbow of colours of flowers and jarred candles on All Saints’ Day. The shops are full of beautiful round topiary Chrysanthemum plants in a ray of colours.
Lunch is usually lamb or game but at midnight the French often eat a supper that consists of bacon, black grain, pancakes and cider in honour of the dead.
This public holiday falls during school holidays in Autumn so it has become very popular for families to gather as a part of a short vacation.
This is my ‘remembrance table’ in my little courtyard… I have placed the Chrysanthemum in the middle and on all saints day I will add candles in jars and remember my family and friends that have left us.
