How long should your wedding reception be?
A question I get asked all the time and that needs to take into account a couple of key things:
- How many pictures do you want to take (hint, don't aim for hundreds, gathering up guests takes a long time!) - you'll want time to eat, drink and mingle either side...
- How many canapés are being served - if you've got a later start time you might skip canapés in time for the meal, but keep in mind whilst drink is flowing it's important to keep soaking it up... If you've got an abundance of canapés circulating you can get away with a lengthier reception.
- Number of guests attending - bigger guest numbers tend to mean longer receptions, this gives you more time for those photographs(!) a chance for you to speak to more of your attendees and extra time for everyone to find their seat for the wedding breakfast. Just be sure to provide enough canapés and drinks to keep everyone happy!
