I only recently found out that ranunculus means 'little frog' in Latin! As much as I love frogs, I think she deserves a far more glamorous name with her silky, ruffled petals ❤️
Ranunculus aren't too keen on frost and I remember running out with fleece not so very long ago to protect young plants on chilly evenings and now here we are in a heat wave trying to keep plants hydrated! 💦
It's an exciting time at Gardener's Cottage Floristry with peonies, sweet williams and canterbury bells ready to burst open (not to mention the dozens of tadpoles in the little pond busy developing into froglets 🐸) Now is the time to treat yourself or someone you love to a beautiful bunch of happiness 🥰

No time to be too sad as each day brings something new - yesterday it was snowing apple blossom in the flower garden! ❄️❄️❄️
And today the gorgeous ranunculus are unfurling their petals. Meanwhile the gardener is not looking so glamorous as I rush around putting baby plants in the ground to avoid them frying in their pots! 🥵 🤣🌱🌱🌱

I came across this beautiful quote this morning by Kate Mcgahan:
'The very first Easter taught us this: that life never ends and love never dies.'
Being in the garden at any time of year but especially in Springtime reminds me of this.
