DJ, cocktails, a raffle, dancing and at least one chap, our Brian, joining me at The Salty Arms.

You guys went MAD for our ✨MULLED CIDER✨ on Saturday night! We sold out completely, and almost got the bottom of the bottle of Baileys with our Boozy Hot Chocolates.

Thanks so much to ALL for coming down to Seaton and joining in the festive celebrations. Fantastic work by Seaton Chamber to get the event up and running. Roll on Christmas 🎄🎅

I’m doing a little celebration shimmy that I’ve finally got this one NAILED.

I started the online course in April, before our season of summer events but just ran out of time to get it finished. It’s a big step up from level 2 and goes into loads of detail about all the illnesses and bacteria and symptoms 🤢 one could get from bad food. (Don’t panic though, I had plenty of knowledge to ensure safe practice was followed!)

My point is, is that I finally got it finished, done, ticked off, with 90% on the final exam. Doesn’t it feel bloody marvellous to tick off your To Do list? 🙌

Been out hobnobbing tonight with the EDDC team & East Devon Excellence to celebrate the launch of East Devon’s NEW cultural map.

From vineyards to potteries, ancient caves and new festivals, creative hubs, galleries and heritage destinations this new map shows that East Devon is thriving with cultural offerings. Eats Boutique is pretty stoked to be included under Multiple Locations, alongside the Gate to Plate and Taste East Devon events.

Celebrating the map’s launch at Thelma Hulbert gallery we had some excellent canapés, lovely wine gifted by our friends from Lyme Bay Winery and the opportunity to browse the current Present Makers exhibition. Those who know me will know these are 3 of my favourite things so naturally, I had a lovely evening. AND I met some really sound people.

I’m super excited about this map because it makes it easy to know that our landscape is fertile with culture. We don’t have to go far to engage with exciting ideas, innovative approaches and thoughtful interpretations of the world around us. Sleepy East Devon? Not anymore!

The map hits the streets next week. If you’re coming to Seaton on Saturday The Salty Arms will have a few copies for you to peruse.

Wow!

Went to see the 11th Ocean Film Festival last night to revel in stories of the sea. It usually sells out in Exeter and you’ve missed the chance for this year’s tour in the southwest. BUT you can watch 2023 films on demand - link in photos. Last year’s films were also inspiring, funny, heart wrenching, thrilling and charming. Proper armchair adventures.

Also delightfully entertained by Cerys and lovely to see .b3rg a fellow environment loving volunteer.

Last year I won sole trader of the year at Devon Women in Business awards, and last night I had the honour of presenting that award to Becki. What an amazing night, and a brilliant bunch of women (and their support acts too).

Folktales of mermaids rarely involve a happy ending, and mermaids are often seen as omens of death.

One such tale is the sad story of Lorelei, who lures sailors to their death in the currents around the rock of Loralei in the River Rhine.

"Heinrich Heine’s well-known 1824 poem about the legend cemented the fairytale in the hearts and minds of the German people, describing a woman with golden jewels and hair and a golden comb who fell – or flung herself -- into the river because of an unfaithful lover. Her spirit sings an enthralling, haunting melody – like a spell – that is powerful enough to send sailors to their deaths. The murmur from the waters was thought to be the sound of Lorelei’s voice." Samhain is upon us, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld is blurred. As we slide from the light into the dark the veil between this world and the next may lift, just for a moment....

So just in case, appease them with some mulled apple juice and Boston Baked beans from the dinghy version of The Salty Arms. Perhaps you're brave enough for Bonny Anne's Lucky Dip?

We'll be mooring up outside Lyme Regis museum this Hallow'een from 5pm with some spooktacular refreshments to accompany their Spooktacular Night at the Museum.

Seaton NIW. We’re here till 7 this evening, Sat 30 Nov 🥳🎄

Whilst we don’t think we should really celebrate the burning of Catholics anymore, nor the restoration of an outdated political system, I do enjoy a good bonfire and fireworks. And while I watched this beautiful display in Branscombe I thought about the people who hear such booms with fear in their hearts not joy, and this made me sad. BIG congratulations to Loluli's Fire and Fish who have been nominted for not 1 but 2 awards for their bbq fish street food. Food Drink Devon have some tough judging criteria, and our Loluli's (pronounced low loo lee) from Exmouth is up against some big guns in the NATIONAL British Street Food Awards. And you lucky folks can catch them at Beer Eats on Friday 6 Sept - our last Beer event for 2024! Cool drinks for hot days .... this Friday at LYME EATS BOUTIQUE The Salty Arms serves up local brews as well as favourites like Aperol Spritz. This long cool drink comes from Italy and has a bitter orange flavour. Mixed with prosecco and a splash of soda it has an alcoholic content of 11%. Aperol spritz is drunk in the sunsoaked piazzas just before dinner to stimulate your appetite, so we think its the perfect fit for our evening street food markets. Join us in Lyme this Friday, perhaps after a pre-feast swim at Chruch Cliff beach? (high tide is about 4.30pm). We're open 4-9pm on Gun Cliff Walk.

Wowee BEER! What a brilliant evening we had with you on Friday. It’s certainly high season and summer came to visit. With some odd grockle behavhiour thrown into the mix, loads of folk from over the hill and plenty of the Beer massif about it was a very busy night and lots of fun. Thanks to The Duke for the reggae tunes 🎶 and to Beer Parish Council for some extra bins and the beautiful lights. See y’all again for our LAST Beer Eats of 2024 on 6 September 💙

Unique Boutique Events is a little business with a big heart. I want to create events for people that celebrate the good things in life.
