At the heart of your wedding day, will be your ceremony. If you want a ceremony that is full of personality, reflects your values, and tells your unique love story, I’m here to make that happen.
Planning a wedding is busy, and with so many details to decide, sometimes also a little bit bonkers, but hopefully overall still brilliant fun. I’m a life-long wedding enthusiast and I love everything about weddings. I love the cake and the dancing and I get ridiculously excited by the flowers and the decor. But despite all these crucial details - all the pretty, delicious, or toe-tapping things on the checklist for your perfect day; I believe you can’t go wrong if you take a deep breath and put your ceremony to the top of the list.
Your ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day. It is the defining moment when you make your commitments to the person you love most and want to spend the rest of your life with. It’s the reason that all the most important people in your life will move mountains to be there for you on that day. It's your ceremony that gives everyone something huge, momentous, and joyful to celebrate for the rest of the day and hopefully long into the night....
Get it right, and your ceremony is something that will still give you joy (and goosebumps) to think about, for all the years to come.
Your ceremony, your way
My biggest advice is to couples is to seize the opportunity to make your ceremony uniquely right for them.
Choosing a humanist ceremony, gives you enormous flexibility: whether your heart is set on a beautiful stately room, a quirky out-building, a barn, a lovely garden, or a tipi in a field; whether you imagine exchanging vows under a leafy canopy or under the boundless sky.
The ceremony I write for you will establish exactly the tone that you want for your big day. Whatever the atmosphere you’re trying to create - be it relaxed, romantic, or quirky and fun; I will help you realise your vision for your day.
The commitments you make to your partner on your wedding day couldn’t be more important. So, I believe it’s essential that the ceremony feels right and meaningful to you. It should reflect your values and your personalities and all your hopes for your future together.
Your wedding ceremony will also celebrate your love, with plenty of smiles, laughter and joy.
About Me
Your ceremony is all about you. And that’s what I’m dedicated to achieving for you. I take the time to get to know you so I can write your story, using your own word and incorporating all the small details and nuances that make it authentic to you.
But you’ll still need to know that we’re going to get along so you can relax and enjoy the process! My name is Jennie. I’m a communications professional, and a life-long wedding enthusiast. Growing up in the South-East, I feel very lucky to have called the beautiful county of Herefordshire home for the last 11+ years. In my career in communications and marketing, I’ve gained skills as an experienced presenter, idea-generator, project manager, wordsmith, and advanced biscuit-eater. I’m also Mum to 2 energetic growing boys. Family and friends mean everything to me. I relish simple joys in the changing seasons, and good food and drink on the table. I love big scenery, running (slowly), knitting, and a bit of culture along the way.
I know from personal experience how special it feels to have a humanist wedding. I married my husband Tom in a humanist ceremony in 2005. Sharing our happiness with friends and family in a ceremony that felt just right for us, was the cornerstone of our big day.
I studied Human Sciences at University and gained a deeper understanding of humans as both cultural beings and biological animals. My humanist outlook crystallised then. And my eyes were opened to our shared human need to mark rites of passage in our lives – as we can see across all cultures and throughout human history. Today I am passionate about bringing real meaning and warmth to nonreligious wedding ceremonies.
About Humanist Ceremonies
Humanist weddings are non-religious but designed to be inclusive and meaningful for everyone present, whatever their beliefs. Whilst legally recognised in Scotland since 2005 and in Northern Ireland since last year, couples in England and Wales still need to legally register their marriage at the Register Office in the days before or after their humanist ceremony.
Humanists Celebrants operate as part of a network and are fully trained and accredited by Humanists UK.
