Something that I hear and see often is that people are after a quotation from X but they never receive it because X is too busy.

So why doesn't X outsource their quotation process to someone else? I'm not saying the actual going and looking at the job and what's required but rather the creation of the quotation, liaising with the customer and the booking in of the job in the calendar. Going one step further, ordering the goods which are necessary for the completion of the job and ensuring that they are to be delivered at the right time can also be outsourced.

You don't need to have a full time member of staff to take care of these things.

Read that again.

A good virtual assistant can handle all of these things for you as well as getting the deposit from the client prior to work starting.

Wednesday Wisdom

I was thinking about what my top tech tip might be and it's actually something that as become a bit of a joke but is 100% true and accurate......

If it doesn't work turn it off and on again.

My reasoning? Sometimes we click the button too much or the lag on the programmes that were running confuse themselves (yes it's those darn imps - I blame Terry Pratchett) so if you turn it off and on again it gives it time to breathe and resets everything.

So, remember the line from "The IT Crowd" and restart before you try anything more complex.

I am also learning Spanish but that's a post that I will make next week!!

What's the greatest thing that you do each day for work?

As a performer my greatest thing was being in front of crowds whilst I swung on my trapeze. The thing I never enjoyed was the paperwork and when I was performing there was nowhere near the amount of admin required that today's performers need.

When I started Virtually Everywhere it was with this in mind, now that I have learned to love paperwork I figured why not release the performers to do what they love while I do the other bit?

Top tips:

There are a few different ways that you can get your email inbox into tip-top shape:

1. Colour code - if there's more than one person working in the inbox add a colour category to those that you're working on
2. Folders - keep everything that you have been working on in labeled folders/subfolders to help you find the items quickly
3. Flags - add items to your to-do list by adding a flag, changing it to a tick on completion is really satisfying

And my ultimate tip
4. Get Virtually Everywhere to look after your inbox, it frees you up to do all the lovely stuff that you enjoy!
