26 feasts in total. What a great run. So the community meals project has ended. Maybe it will find funding again. Who knows. Maybe it will involve me. Who knows. It's been a blast. So many brilliant volunteers and working with so many brilliant colleagues to keep the food cog turning. Heather Maria Holly Cross Nicky pang, carol, Debbie Wasson, . Thanks all for the support, the love, the washing up..and to the brilliant fella who brought the Mexican music on a quality speaker to the last feast...that filled my cup and made me realise that music was missing more than I knew it already was. is such a brilliant bunch of people doing brilliant things. If not already, get on their email list, or WhatsApp list, attend some workshops and talks, get involved. The community serving their community. All makes sense.

We have all heard the reports on ultra processed foods. Anyone who has been to our vineyard tastings knows how we feel about this. School lunches  and the ultra processed convenience food our society is living on is making us ill, depressed, undernourished. 

So I would like to SHOUT about a new charity called CEGIN Y BOBL (previously Cook24). We have been going into schools, food banks and community spaces reconnecting people with ingredients. Simple, tasty, affordable food.  Proper knives, hobs, great but simple ingredients. 

There is a difference between teaching and sharing knowledge. I learn as much as anyone else there. We need to change school food. Period. Poor quality ultra processed food is not just physically damaging but mentally and emotionally damaging. There's no nutrients in it to feed the mind, body or soul. For kids or adults. 

This isn't about me, and my (other) job away from the vineyard. This is about the future of our kids, our families, our communities, our colleagues, our friends, our society. It is down to us all now to refuse the rubbish being fed to our kids in schools. The people in charge aren't listening.

We are raising money to set up this charity which is already doing amazing, life changing stuff. Read about it, share it. Send it to people you know. Please donate if you can. Ask your friends and businesses. Donate a tenner, donate thousands, but please please please, help to keep this movement (and we need a movement right?) moving by donating anything or sending it out to people who can. We want this to get bigger than us all.

Sometimes nature and luck enables us to create a dish for the tour and tasting with ingredients of dreams. After catching lots of mackerel last weekend I cured some and pickled some and added the freshest simple ingredients from the garden - peas, white cucumber, tomato, radish, Thai basil and crispy fried courgettes, pulled together with a freshly made kewpie mayo. My kind of dish.

If you fancy breathing in an eclectic collection of songs with beautiful harmonies, come and see Lleisiau Preseli Voices concert with on Tuesday 9th in Canolfan Hermon. Singing with others or listening to communal harmonious singing is proven to improve mental wellbeing and release all the right happy stuff for the feel good factor. What else are you going to do on a Tuesday. This is definitely with missing that one yoga class for 😉

Our Cwm A***n (CARE) workshop for these tasty morsels on the 14th is full but there are still spaces on the repeat workshop on the 27th June. I absolutely love cooking alongside others. It's inherent to us as humans and is fantastic for our mental wellbeing.

The community meal project at Cwm A***n are funding workshops for the next few months. They are really good value. You can go to the Eventbrite address below to book onto one of the workshops on offer. This one is learning how to make Sweet Chilli Sauce two ways. Cooked and uncooked, to keep in your fridge. We are holding them at Ystwdio in Hermon because it's lovely 😊

An enormous dinner queue for the last Community meal at Canolfan Hermon. You people fill me with joy. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make it happen. What a great community we have.
