Pink but not sugary

Colour balance is such an important part of wedding flowers. Florists, what are you favourite colour combinations?

Pink is a popular choice for weddings, yet not everyone wants soft and romantic pink. This bouquet shows that pink can be modern, impactful and still feminine and delicate.

If you would like your wedding flowers to come with lots of love, scent, stacks of good feeling and to support independent (mostly women owned) businesses then ask for British grown.

Only 14% of cut flowers sold in the UK are grown in Britain. The remaining 86% come from the Netherlands, or from warmer countries, such as Ecuador, Kenya and Ethiopia* While this sounds exciting and exotic the reality is often less so from both an environmental and a human perspective.

Try for local growers and florists near you that specialise in locally grown beautiful flowers - like us (just saying!)

It is and what better way to showcase what is possible than these images taken just over two weeks ago. The double height floral arch was also created using more sustainable techniques - no floral foam at all. The only single use plastic was cable ties and a little bit of tape.

All British grown and we can tell you where every stem came from.

Made with lots of love and zero air miles

Thank you for absolutely capturing this to perfection.

In love

That is how we feel about the first images from a gorgeous editorial just two weeks ago. So much to say about this one, from the fabulous team, to the 100% British grown flowers and the reaction of everyone that saw this 4m high arch at the open weekend.

What we love less is the insta crop, so head over to stories to see the full image. Thank you for absolutely capturing this to perfection.

Transformation

Sometimes it feels as if we are magicians. Not just with the floristry, rather the whole wedding supplier team coming together to create a day that is far greater than the sum of its parts.

The flowers have the ability to elevate your venue - trees drawing your eye to the height of the marquee. Bud vases of colourful flowers accenting the clean lines and dark wood of the tables.

If you would like your wedding marquee transformed do get in touch. Now booking 2025 and bookings for 2026 will open soon.

A very happy first anniversary to G and A

Their day was filled with all locally grown flowers and wild flowers as befitting a botanist.

On the morning of their wedding I looked out of the window while drinking my cup of tea and saw the first rose of the season had opened in the garden. Tea forgotten I found my snips and added that rose to the bridal bouquet.

When I told G this later, she cried and we hugged. Wedding days are special memories for your florist too.

Thank you for asking me to create your flowers and for giving me the perfect brief to create with.

The beauty of nature - our naturalistic style is led by Fran, our lead florist.

It is no surprise that Fran’s elegant style is inspired from her love of the outdoors. A woodland filled with bluebells in May, hair stiff with salt from the spray of the waves and the unmistakable but also entirely ridiculous waft of coconut from gorse on a summers day.

The joy of recognising a speckled wood butterfly or the first shining yellow celandine of spring.

These are core memories formed growing up on the coast of Cornwall. Engrained so deeply that Fran went on to make nature conservation her career for 17 years, before changing careers to become a florist.

If you love the outdoors and a stroll around a country garden is your idea of a perfect afternoon then you are in the right place for your wedding flowers.

They are like buses - as the old saying goes.

We wait all spring for peony season and then as soon as the weather warms up they are all here at once! Peony season should last about six weeks with different varieties flowering for a week or two at a time. Not this year!

The first of these Sarah Bernhardt peonies was cut in Lincolnshire this week yet these are not the ones for this week's wedding. The brief for this week is very light and delicate so we have chosen the much smaller Alertie peonies and they are opening so perfectly in the studio right now.

Keep an eye on stories to see more behind the scenes

Scented staircase

This installation included two types of mint, dill and oodles of sweet peas. The scent filled the hallway, welcoming the guests as they arrived.

The only way to flower a cake!

When couples ask us how they can repurpose florals from their ceremony to their reception - these are our goals. Church meadows moved and recombined to create an entirely new wow factor. Plus, it was all achieved before the guests arrived at the venue so no one knew but us 🤫

The flowers for this wedding were entirely locally grown. was used and the only single use plastic was some tape and a few cable ties. Definitely much more of an than the industry standard, but still working to improve.

Limewood Flowers is a principles, as well as design, led business and one of a growing community of florists working to nudge the sector towards more sustainable options.

Lead florist Fran has meticulous researched not just wedding flower supply, but also design of arrangements and closing the loop on waste. Flowers are locally sourced where possible, after this, British grown is always preferred. Imported flowers are considered the last resort.

Designs never use floral foam and single use plastic has been reduced down to tape, cable ties and the glue on the back of a sticker. All vessels and ‘mechanics’ are cared for and designed to be used over and over for years.

This kind of floral installation is called a...????

Is it an arch, a pillar, a botanical style or does it not really matter?

You don't need to know the names of arrangements or the names of all the flowers. Just describe your vision to your florist (and ideally a colour palette) and let them bring you the most creative and unique ideas to make your day yours.

If this is your vibe, check your date with us.

1. Don't!
2. Choose the colours you like instead
3. Talk to your suppliers about how you want your day to look
