A busy but wonderful week which makes me so happy to be plugged into brilliant network of women and flowers. Thanks to @flowersbymeg_at_roots @_honestyflowers_ @flowersbyannabrian for helping me to provide 100% locally grown flowers for 45 sustainable tables worth of flowers in bottles which I cleaned and rescued (thanks to the people of Northfield for emptying them, and The Black Horse for letting me raid their recycling). Chloe @_honestyflowers_ was also a brilliant wingwoman helping me to get the flowers into them clinking her way over the speed bumps with a carful to get them to @unibirmingham for their Chancellor’s reception. Lovely to meet Megan @twiggflowers, Carolyn @pembridgefarmflowers and Liz @walkingwithblooms for lots of funeral flower talk on Wednesday. You were all fantastic company and your enthusiasm for this field of floristry reassures me that we are so on the right track with the change we’re trying to effect with The Farewell Flowers Directory @farewellflowers. There are BIG plans afoot there so once fill @fieldhouseflowers has finished promotion plastic free flowers @greatyorkshireshow next week there will be some serious plotting to do. Never a dull moment round these parts…oh yes, and there was a general election 🎉👌.
This top table teamwork from last weeks workshop with @flowersbymeg_at_roots looked pretty spectacular. I always think that it’s a much nicer treatment for a top table than a garland, which, being a solid piece, can run the risk of a draught excluder vibe if you’re not careful. If you had to choose, which way would you go?
A fantastic solution found for photography conundrums - thanks to @bloomandburn for this genius idea it has completely made my day and I’ve spent the afternoon trying out lots of different fabrics. O-oh….I think I may have just opened up a whole new wormhole! #photographyhacks #backdrop #problemsolving #diy #inmystudio #floristbirmingham #flowergrower #flowersfromthefarm
