Smoke & Mirrors Smoke & Mirrors create fully interactive, bespoke murder mystery events for people who enjoy unforgettable nights out.

Some “murder mysteries” are simply downloadable packages designed for small groups playing at home; others are put on for larger parties with a few actors and a vague sense of structure. We give you a detailed and believable scenario, unforgettable set-pieces, excellent comedy, and storylines you can really get your teeth into. All our events feature a full cast of brilliant professional actors. T

hey’ll play out scenes in your midst, sit with you, talk to you, and let you interrogate them. Then there’ll be a murder (perhaps more than one), and it’ll be up to you to work who did it, why they did it, and what they did it with. We guarantee our events will be intelligent, action-packed, and great fun.

Thursday’s event had a distinctly Christmassy feel to it, helped by Bob’s beautiful and stunningly decorated house. They were a pretty stunning audience too – great performances, huge fun and so many laughs. The chocolates were won by Matt for his hilarious Sister Dolores and top ndetective was Bob himself. Huge thanks to Sophie for finding us and organising, to Bob for hosting the event and to everyone for being completely brilliant. Have a wonderful Christmas!

November’s last event was an absolute classic and the audience were totally brilliant. Everyone performed superbly. It was very hard to know what to do with the chocolates but in the end they went to Adam, who was an unforgettable Sir Basil! Ricky Shrimp proved to be the sharpest knife in the Detectives Drawer and won the champagne.
Special thanks to Imogen for finding us and organising a fabulous event, and to everyone for being fantastic fun – we’d love to see you again!

The bar certainly stayed high right to the end of November and Saturday’s first event was a hugely successful “Ancestral Vices” at Pettistree House for this brilliant crowd and there were some truly outstanding performances! By popular demand Jan won the chocs for her unforgettable Lady Alicia, but there were other people hot on her heels. Not only did Terry find us and organise this wonderful gathering, but he also Terry won the bubbly for getting one murderer correct. Thank you all for a fantastic afternoon!

First event of a busy couple of days was a Thanksgiving Day “Ancestral Vices” for a transatlantic audience at Latimer Farm Estate with Luxury Cotswold Rentals. What a lovely evening and a lovely audience! Lovely venue too! There was some fine acting including an alarmingly spooky Stella Shades from Karen, but the chocolates went to Liza for her wonderful Sister Dolores. Top sleuth was Claire.
Huge thanks to Harrad & Bloom for finding us and being a joy to work with, and to everyone for being such fun.

We’re on a roll with “Ancestral Vices”! On Saturday we had another classic event to celebrate Justin’s special birthday. This brilliant audience really went for the ‘20s theme (love the bathing suit) and for their crazy characters too. The bubbly was won by Emma, despite saying at one point that she wasn’t going to do an answer sheet! Tom won the chocolates for one of the maddest and funniest Myrtle Shagweavers we’ve seen. Special thanks to Lucy for finding us and for supplying hilarious guest info. We’d love to see you again!

A Monday “Ancestral Vices” - what a great way to start the week! A stunning venue at Ettington Park and this group were a fabulous audience. No cue was missed, no joke was wasted and so much laughter! Craig was the top detective and Tom won the chocolates for his wonderful Horatio, although there were many other 5* performances. Huge thanks to Elaine for great organisation and a fab Spencer Talents/Myrtle, and to Gian for looking after us so well.

Chutney Mary in St James’ Street was the venue for Rahul’s 40th birthday celebration, and what an evening it was! Beautiful venue, fabulous food, stunning fancy dress and a wonderful audience, all brought together superbly by Janki. There was much laughter and some brilliant performances, but after much agonising by us the chocolates went to Raj for her fine Lady Alicia. Great detective work by Priya meant that she won the champagne.
A lovely evening – thank you all for being part of a great Ancestral Vices!
