Top Videography Tips For Your Wedding Day 🎬🤍

1. Natural Light. Clear an area in front of a window so we can capture your details/touch ups/final look shots. Natural light is key!

2. Speak loud and clear for my microphone to hear. I know it can be a terrifying moment being up there at the top of the aisle, but you’ve got this. Keep your eyes on each other, hold hands, and speak loud and clear so my microphone can hear you.

3. The bigger the confetti the better. Dried petals may get stuck in your hair and is harder to remove than the biodegradable paper. Or even better, full flower petals. The bigger sizes also look better on camera!

4. Time. Video needs more time. I can’t snap a quick picture like your photographer. But don’t worry, I only need 5-10 seconds. So just hold those poses a little longer.

5. Movement is important. Smile at each other, have a little sway and have a little giggle. One thing that helps me, step into your poses.

6. I’ve already posted this one but I truly believe it! If you be yourselves, it will feel less awkward in front of the cameras than you expect it to! I promise you, you ARE a natural and it’s not as weird as you think it is! 🫶🏻

✨ 3 magical years in the industry, and this is what I’ve learnt so far…

1. Instagram and Pinterest are dangerous 🤣 we all know social media can be a great source of inspiration but we also know that it can make us feel like we aren’t doing enough. Well, you are. Your special day should be about just the two of you and celebrating your love. However that looks. And I promise you it will be a perfect day no matter what! 🫶🏻

2. You aren’t awkward or bad in front of the camera. You don’t have to pose too much if you don’t want to. But also if you want to pull all the poses out of the bag. That’s okay too. Again, it’s all about you! But I promise it’s not as bad being in front of the camera as you might think. Most of the time you will be looking at your partner and you’ll be in a moment of peace together.. while me and your photographer capture it on our cameras. Easy ☺️

3. Personalised vows are such a great way to add something personal to your day. To make your ceremony memorable and special! It doesn’t have to be a lot, but trust me, it will be the best part of your ceremony!

4. Share your wedding film vision with me! Of course I will be making your films in my style, because I’d hope that you’ve booked me for that reason, but, please share poses, shot ideas, videos that you’ve seen that you liked and tell me why. I’d love to hear your ideas! 💡

5. Don’t be afraid to get in touch with me at any time! I’d love to help with anything I can along your planning journey, or to just discuss your ideas and plans and hear about your experiences! Planning a wedding is not an easy task and you are not alone in it! 🫶🏻

Woweee what a wedding this was 🥹 congratulations Melissa & Tom for tying the knot at the beautiful Ellingham Hall 🤍 There are so many beautiful moments from Mel & Tom’s day that I was spoilt for choice for their trailer! I couldn’t not include the amazing Connie and Colin cakes on the impressive cake stand made by Tom himself (with help from the project plans by Mel’s grandad 🤍). The love from this family brought tears to my eyes during the speeches. Just a great day from start to end! Here’s to your new future together 🥂💍

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Richardson who got married on Saturday at the beautiful 🥹🤍 We were told by every weather app that it would rain, but what it didn’t tell us is that it would pause very kindly so Amy & John could have the ceremony of their dreams on the lawn in the beautiful sunshine ☀️ and not only that but gorgeous Barney 🐾 sat for a whole 5 seconds so we could get some gorgeous footage of him with his newly wedded humans! 💍 A great day working alongside and followed by a bouncing dance floor held up by 🙌🏻 playing pop punk bangers!!! 🎶 A day graciously carried out by the staff at Horton as usual! Thank you Jackie and .0 🫶🏻

About me

Since studying Media Production at Northumbria University, and graduating in 2014, I have filmed the renovation process of a TV studio in Gateshead, a number of short films and events, and, since November 2016, a few Weddings.

With working full time, Monday - Friday, at Wellway Accountants in Morpeth, film is something I enjoy to do in my spare time. It’s my chance to be creative and active away from my desk.

Having already won two awards, my short student film Nana has this year (2018) been accepted into the Bafta recognised Aesthetica Short Film Festival, which is a major UK and international film festival. Nana is soon to be screened at the festival this November in York.

Current works in the pipeline include short films and a music video for a local band (Edge Of Obsidian - check them out!).
