Charm-ed is a business in the events sector, however this is no ordinary events company! Charm-ed was formed by two entrepreneurs that had a vision to re-innovate the way events are carried out. By making the event planning experience core to the overall messaging of their clients, they have developed a more strategic and personal approach called "Event Directing". "Event Directing" is the underst

ated ingredient that brings everything together at the crucial stage of planning the event. An event should form an intrinsic role as part of the whole marketing mix for clients or brands. We like to work with our clients to secure all objectives pre, during and post event, in order to plan, create and deliver the best event solution for our clients. Co Founder Louise commented, "Event Directing is something we believe passionately about, this is what get's us up in the morning. It's that feeling of 'making a real difference' through a very personal and consultative working relationship together with our clients". Charm-ed looks to redefine the event experience placing the customer first. This personal touch means that our clients feel they are getting the best service tailored for their exact needs, meeting real objectives. No two events are the same - we don't believe in templating an event, we don't believe in using pre-determined venues, or preset arrangements. We believe in creating a relevant experience for all of our clients. If it's personalised, relevant and engaging, it will inspire! Flashing lights and glitter balls don't make a good event, the experience the client gets, and the feeling their audience leaves with, makes it successful! The clever bit is realising this at the planning stage - this is exactly why Charm-ed was created.

Mental well-being can really take a hit at this time of year with the gloomy weather, the dark mornings and nights and the busy build up to the Christmas period. So now is the perfect time to really think about how to increase wellbeing at your events. Here’s some of our top tips!

1. Choose a Wellness Venue
An easy way to incorporate wellness into your next event is by choosing a venue that promotes wellness. Look for venues that offer outdoor venue space, outside activities, and are walking distance to parks, shops and bike paths, etc.

2. Feature Healthy, Local Food and Drink Options
Offer attendees’ locally grown, healthy food and drink options. Research has shown that if you want to keep your attendees’ minds alert and active, then feeding them with water, complex carbohydrates, proteins, and a small amount of statured fats is key.

3. Add Screen-Free Zones
Secondhand screen time and the presence of technology like a phone or a laptop have shown to decrease attendees’ long-term retention of the information. To increase attendees’ retention rates and help attendees live in the moment set up screen-free zones at your next event.

4. Push for Connection
Having a sense of connection with others has been proven to increase people’s longevity, strengthen people’s immune systems, lower rates of depression, anxiety, and more. Host networking cocktail hours, mixers, group activities, and other activities that provide opportunities for attendees to connect.

How can you turn event attendees into participants? Live polls engage audiences and have many reported benefits. Live polls can:
1. Loosen up the audience. A quick question-and-shared-response can turn an attendee into a participant.
2. Start a conversation. A question can get people thinking – and the audience’s response can help to steer the presenter toward making the presentation even more tightly focused on the needs of that particular audience.
3. Stir curiosity. You might ask a question that will stir the audience’s interest and increase participation.
4. Introduce a topic. In a similar vein, polls help you transition seamlessly from one topic to another.
5. Change the direction. Sometimes, audience feedback prompts an alert presenter to steer the conversation to a topic that wasn’t on the agenda.
6. Get live audience feedback. A well-written question or two at the end of the event can collect instant feedback on how things went.

Ever thought of adding gamification to your corporate event?

Gamification is the perfect technique to make events more dynamic and entertaining, as well as to communicate specific messages. For instance, video games and fun applications can be used to boost motivation, concentration, effort, loyalty and other positive values in the group.

Here are 6 advantages of event gamification:
1. Gets attendees more involved and motivated.
2. Creates an engaged community.
3. Encourages attendees to participate more.
4. Generates quality experiences.
5. Facilitates communication.
6. Makes the event fun and memorable.
