A Sunday pick - a bit of this & that. Boscobel is my new favourite rose that just has to be inside so that I can smell it constantly! Always picking to encourage more roses to bloom before the summer ends. Along with the carnations grown in pots in the greenhouse - doing very well in the extra warmth. Chocolate cosmos, vanilla frais & antirrhinums for more scent to amp it up just a little bit more! An excellent way to start the week š„°šššš

Having a fantastic time in Scotland with kiwi friend Angela. Stumbled across Floors Castle in the Borders today all because a Kelso shop keeper told us about their delicious food! Got far more than a great lunch. The gardens are absolutely stunning. The glasshouses impeccable and beautifully laid out plants in groups. The orange tree was grown by seed by the Head Gardener 20 years ago. Just magic and fruiting! Glorious peony border. A memorable day out exploring the Scottish Borders. š“ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó “ó æšš

The dusky pink rose is called āLa Vida Locaā, the colour of the bridesmaids dresses for todayās wedding. Always a popular colour for weddings. Iāve been eyeing up the lunaria in the garden for weeks hoping it would have gone to seed for this wedding. Yes!!! I am thrilled to use it as it catches the light coming in through the stained windows of St Peterās church. Creating beautiful green orbs in a gorgeous building.

Florist lifeā¦It was a wild rainy day on Thursday creating a spring arch for Jemma & Jacks wedding at the beautiful Coln church. The arch was anchored down with large stones and Scott secured the arch tip with wire. It wasnāt going anywhere unless it turned into a hurricane! Knowing that wind gusts were predicted (they came) and cool rain (came too - great for the flowers &foliages to keep super fresh!) We monitored the arch for a while to double check all was well. Soaked and happy with all, we headed to the Vicarage for coffee with Clare!
What an amazing day today at the with my daughter Charlotte helping me. We met lovely people and many more fabulous Cotswolds WedFest suppliers! A great way to spend the afternoon chatting and being serenaded by the talented and The acoustics were just so beautiful in the church ā¦still buzzing!! The last of the roses and geraniums picked from a clients garden today. As well as floristry I also look after private gardens. Iāve been gardening since I was 10 years old. Yes itās total obsession I admit it - the growing and the creating. Whether itās bringing plants together in a garden visual feast or cutting plants to create florals for weddings and special occasions. Itās all one and the same to me. The edges have become blurred. All year I dry foliages and flowers for Christmas. I love creating one-off designs. This massive dried wreath sat well on the large barn doors. Not looking outsized at all, but a part of itās stunning surroundings.

We always love it when the professional photos arrive that capture the wedding just perfectly. Simon Hunt Photography took these beauties. (I sometimes wonder why I post anything when the pros do it sooo much better!!) It was a wild day when Clio and Ian got married at Tarlton House. We had to change the original plan to accommodate the high winds that were forecast. Bride Clio took it all in her stride and everything came together beautifully. Looking stunning along with her bridesmaids. .
Caswell House is the venue today for Nem & Ben. Small, simple and minimalistic was the brief. I was thrilled that Nem asked for Miss Piggy roses. Because I used to order extra Miss Piggy roses for me when I had my shop in New Zealand. Could never resist them! Very excited to find them here on this side of the world! Theyāve always reminded me of a sunset with the extraordinary mix of peach golds and pinks. A stunning rose!
Bourton House Gardens are simply breathtaking! We had the best afternoon here ooohing and ahhing over the many planting combinations. So many different facets to this garden to explore. From the large borders with their yew headboards to the wild flower garden to the very cute potager gardenā¦..A truly beautiful exceptional garden. This garden is definitely at the top of my āto visit againā list!
I explored Athelhampton house in Dorset this weekend. Near the village of Puddletown - yes you read that right! Yet another beautiful English garden to put on your bucket list. I have never seen a pure white helichrysum before- I was very excited to see that there. I also met a lovely Australian couple in the lime walk (as you do), who have been travelling their entire lives and having the best adventures together. So good to hear their Aussie accents and have a good chin wag! Certainly made my day šš
I was in the beautiful potager garden today at Barnsley House picking flowers. I paused looked behind me and gazed at the lushness of it all in the bean arch. Looking through the green to Room 10ās inviting wrought iron gate. Donāt you just want to open it?! In front of me, is the gigantic pot with lemon verbena taking centre stage. What a magical place Rosemary Verey created! This year itās looking particularly lush with all the wonderful summer rain.
I went to Highclere Castle on a recommendation (thank you Catherine!) and the garden was positively stunning. It was all about the gardens - the care that has gone into this place really is impressive. Love the planting colour combinations. The wild flowers šš»Seriously couldnāt stop taking photos everywhere I looked. Didnāt go into the castle as the queue was rather longā¦ and it wasnāt what I went for. The helichrysum are flowering at Barnsley- I absolutely love them! They always remind me of a dear florist friend Lynley who is no longer with us sadly. She always got so excited about these flowers in the Fig Leaf garden back in Hamilton NZ. A lovely memory of her whenever I see helichrysums. They make me smile. Forever Lynley š
Inspiring Kiftsgate Gardens. One of my favourite gardens as it feels personal and well loved. Full of interesting plants and colour combinations. Plus they have a good selection of plants for sale. Found a new fave plant today, the lonicera āRed Gablesā. Itās very compact and the most gorgeous burgundy red. Need to find one to squeeze inā¦
What a beautiful colour choice by bride Clio - just perfect for brightening this wild weather weekend! Tarlton House, Newbold-on-Stour really is a magical and such natural place to be. What spectacular venue!
We especially enjoyed giving the florist tutorial this morning to some of the guests. Showing them how to go about creating jars for the tables. 4 of them nailed 60 jars beautifully!
We love creating for personal small weddings but particularly enjoy it when guests and family are involved with the creating too. Making memories and stories a part of the wedding day. So special. To be involved is everything.
