NEW YEAR, NEW NAME! To reflect how far and wide I now host SpeedQuizzing events (it hasn't been just London for several years), SpeedQuizzing London is now to be known as A1 SpeedQuizzing!

Inbetween Christmas and New Year is never the busiest time for a quiz night, but we managed to get eight SpeedQuizzing teams assembled at The Gipsy Queen this week. Our top and bottom teams were both abandoned by their ladies near the end (one of them had even been sleeping on the table earlier, so the "Christmas spirit" had definitely come into play there!), so the remaining member of Lads! Lads! Lads! decided not to play on alone, leaving Peaks Troughs to take the 20 point voucher.

In 1st: Sid's Bite Victims (so named after a painful few days of cat sitting)
2nd: 3BB Outside Ebbing Missouri
6th: The chocolates went to Iceburgers
And Pat, as No Pain Just Champagne, won £40 of the jackpot!

You'll have four days to get over your NYE hangover before the next one, so I'll see you all next Sunday!

At the end of another crazy year, it's finally time for a break! Thank you to all my SpeedQuizzing players who have joined and supported me throughout 2024.

All the last week we had packed nights at every SpeedQuizzing London venue, until last night when Kentish Town only gave us nine teams for this year's Christmas special SpeedQuizzing night at The Gipsy Queen. But while the turnout was disappointing, we definitely had some quality players!

The majority were brand new to us (although not all were new to the format, having played elsewhere), and in a world first Slots Army scored his first win with me! Well done, Michael! Soji had spent much of the night in the lead but finished second, and £60 of our rollover jackpot went to Quizney Sweeneh, who also took the 20 point voucher for coming last - even though they were 7th of 9, but the bottom player, Alex, left before the end and the team in 8th were visitors who will be going back to the US after Christmas.

Thank you to everyone who's supported our fortnightly SpeedQuizzing nights at The Chieftain - Welwyn Garden City throughout 2024, and well done to the winners of our Christmas Special this Tuesday! Have a great time over the festive season, and Shaun will be back for the first quiz of 2025 on January 14th.

Festive shenanigans a-plenty last night! Our Christmas SpeedQuizzing event at Jolly Postie - Royston brought us 60 players across 17 teams, with a few spot prizes given out as well as the £20 jackpot and the usual bar tab and wine. And thanks so much for dressing up, you all looked magnificent!

All our SpeedQuizzing winners were solo players at The Gipsy Queen this week! Olly and Alex have had a lean time lately after previously being frequent winners, but last night they found themselves back on top. Vuvuvenezuela came first, with MC Hammered taking second PLUS £10 of the rollover jackpot, leaving £210 for next week.

Another Olly (or Ollie?) came sixth, winning a box of Haribo.

Last night I covered the weekly Thursday night SpeedQuizzing at The Swan Abbots Langley for Kurtis, who was engaged elsewhere. A great night with 40 players across 11 teams and a lot of brief moments in the lead for several teams, but our ultimate winners were Christmastinis!

So many regulars being elsewhere on their Christmas parties drastically reduced the turnout for SpeedQuizzing at The Old Swan Bletchley this week, but at least every one of our five teams won something!

1st Drink While You Think for the £30 voucher
2nd Joe And The Gang for the £20 voucher
3rd Merry Quizmas for the tub of Celebrations
4th Three Musketeers had earlier won £5 of the new rollover (better than nothing!)
5th Not Sure Why We Are bothering - our accurately named bar team of Tab and Ellie won the 20 point voucher for coming last!

Next Wednesday is our final quiz before Christmas, so it'll be the annual festive special!

The Lord Kitchener - New Barnet had their final SpeedQuizzing night of the year last night! Well done to Dragon Sleighers who leapt into the lead during the last round and won, and thanks to all of you who joined us for the Christmas Special!

We had a busy one at The Gipsy Queen Kentish Town this week! 15 SpeedQuizzing teams with over 40 players, and a guaranteed giveaway of some of the jackpot resulted in The Bolton Rule winning £80, but they chose to spin again and only won £40 the second time! But then they went on to win the quiz, so it wasn't all bad.

The shots went to Grubb Club for finishing in second, choccies to Slots Army for sixth, and the 20 point voucher for last was won by Crumpetmbristols.

There's still £200 in the jackpot fund, so let's see who wins what next Sunday when some of it will be guaranteed again!

What a great night of SpeedQuizzing at The Fisherman - Stevenage! We had to bring in extra tables to squeeze 11 teams into the conservatory, and our winners for the second month running are BEERS.
