Heavenly Holly, in the woods near Reading!

I’m asked regularly about budgets, what is a realistic budget for a wedding?
I’ll tell you now, the national average as published by big wedding blogs like Brides is completely unrealistic. Certainly if you’re not DIYing every element and asking a wedding planner to work with you. What was £30k two years ago is now more like £50k.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be realistic as to what you want to spend and keep your expectations inline with that. For example. I did a wedding two years ago for 160, some very lovely guests invited, but the budget and what the couple wanted to spend was very little! £30k

So what does £30k get you?
Basic trestle tables with no linen, bench seating that was also used for the ceremony and an incredible hard working team to re- locate them after the ceremony before guests got to the tent.
A caterer like that helps you to make every penny of your budget work hard, and service incredible whole roast chickens with simple salads.
A brilliant tent company that works hard and delivers a stripped back simple installation with simple lighting.
Borrow bud vases from friends and find a lovely local flower grower to supply buckets in your colour pallet (don’t be fussy about what you want, go for seasonal and mixed colours to keep the costs down)
Find a fab photographer you trust! I wouldn’t scrimp here if you can, but there are suppliers for all budgets you just have to find them.
Don’t include the bride or grooms outfits, ring, and late night after party, get friends to DJ and supply their own equipment, keep the booze out of the budget if this important to you (£10k on top) but otherwise use all the supermarket sales and check what their return policy is, if you don’t buy to far ahead, can it be returned if not drunk or damaged!

Lastly, if you can work alongside a planner that offers consulting & Coordinating then ideal. For more info on this service head to my website.
