December had arrived and now ending in a blink of an eye, for My Kampung at least! We were hoping to do one last delivery before 2021 ends but with all the busy family schedules (and a booster jab coming up after Christmas), we've decided to call it a day earlier than planned. Thank you to all our lovely customers who have supported us throughout the year - you have certainly kept My Kampung's kitchen wonderfully busy! Looking forward to cooking & baking for you again in the new year. Have a lovely Christmas and wishing you all a prosperous, healthy 2022 🥂

Last year, I committed myself to making mooncakes for charity. What a memorable & valuable experience that was! Thank you for those who supported my effort - it was the best mooncake intensive course an amateur could ask for :) Massive thanks too to Tessa Cvm Bots Cv M for being my 'bridge' by helping to deliver the donations to the relevant charity groups back home.

Back to present time...the Mid-Autumn festival is approaching and I have decided to have another round of making mooncakes for charity. This year's mooncake charity will be more exciting for me as I've got a partner to do it with - my 9 year old son! We have both registered to join Alzheimer Society Memory Walk this September (our first charity walk!). At least £150 from the mooncake sale will go towards Alzheimer Society.

I'll be making only 100 mooncakes this year (I did 300 last year - by the time I finished the last order, I swore I didn't want to see anymore mooncakes, ever! LOL!) . 31st of May & 1st of June are significant dates for many Sarawakians & Sabahans. This is when they celebrate their harvest festivals, 31st May for Sabah's Kaamatan & 1st June for Sarawak's Gawai. Being Sabahans ourselves and already feeling the excitement of Tadau Kaamatan (Kaamatan Day), we have teamed up with our fellow Borneans - Cooking Doktor, J's Cake UK & Jessica Joni - to bring you a special Kaamatan-Gawai menu. As it is the harvest festival celebrations, an event full of tradition and culture, we have included some exotic, traditional dishes alongside popular local delicacies.
