We are pleased to offer fresh free range eggs all produced on our farm.
We are RSPCA Freedom Foods, Lion Code and DEFRA monitored, audited and approved. We like to keep our hens happy and well cared for and in return, they provide us with great tasting eggs.
We can offer;
Small Eggs at 75p for a box of six or £3.00 for a tray of 30 eggs – these are ideal for pickling or for those with a small appetite.
Medium-Large Eggs at £1.00 a box of six or £4.50 for a tray of 30 eggs.
Extra Large Eggs are also available in limited supply and are £1.50 a box of six.
We are open by 8 o’clock in the morning every day and close when I go to put the hens inside at dusk.
How to find us;
We are on the site of the old North Devon Farm Park, now a vineyard, but with a new entrance marked with a yellow sign.
From Barnstaple take the A361 towards Tiverton and turn off at Landkey. Drive through Landkey towards Swimbridge, after leaving Landkey we are halfway towards Swimbridge. Past the two laybys and then on the right you will see the yellow sign next to Star Cross Farm entrance (Nearly opposite Crossways Country Park Caravan site). Turn in and drive around the new vineyard and down the hill, you will see the Egg Shed on the left with a turning/car park area.
From South Moulton drive through Filleigh, then Swimbridge towards Landkey, on leaving Swimbridge, go up and over the hill and as you are descending the hill you will see the vineyard on the left. The first yellow sign is about 100 metres before the second yellow sign and the entrance is on the left to Star Cross Farm. Turn in and drive around the new vineyard and down the hill, you will see the Egg Shed on the left with a turning/car park area.
The daily number of the XL Eggs available is dependent on how the hens are doing, sometime we only get maybe six in a day, on other days they will provide up to 24 XL eggs. Best time to come is just after lunch time when we have finished collecting and packing the eggs and put fresh eggs in the “Egg Shed”. The XL eggs have proved to be very popular and they disappear quickly.
For the best results when boiling your eggs, use older eggs (keep our fresh eggs for at least 5 days as they are really fresh from our Egg Shed.) Fresh ones tend to be more difficult to peel and the egg white tends to stick to the shell.
Thank you all for your support. Tony and Alina
