Chains constrict us; they can also liberate us.
Today we’re inspired by Carnival costuming that enticingly strings delicate chains across our contours.
Gentle strains of B**M lace through all our events; these lace across all our bodies.

Some older friends of mine worry that we are an overpowering fe**sh event; that we worship the darkness, and they’ll be tied up & whipped (well they might be - if they can confess they love it & consent ;)). Well we do love fe**sh - but believe we are all fe**shists. We all have mysterious s*xual affinities, and the capacity to be roused by things or objects or sensations that inculcate a sense of both desire and worship.
A fe**sh in anthropology is an object, like a talisman or amulet, that embodies a supernatural spirit, or in some way exerts magical force. So a phone, or TV, or car, or clothing or jewellery, are all clear examples of our tribal fe**shes. We love that space where s*xual interest - a clear expression of our authentic self - merges with reverence and worship.

Adorn your chest in traditional carnival style or add your own fe**sh twist! The traditional Rio carnival bras are wire bases which are then heavily embellished with crystals, jewels and feathers. Usually these bejeweled bras are part of a complete matching costume consisting of a bikini, headpiece, often shoulder pieces, wings and lots of different sets of accessories on the neck, wrists, arms and calves and these outfits are BIG, elaborate and stunning!

Today we’re delighted to intro our final TechnoDrome goddess - our sole Londoner (& non Brazilian), with the perfect last name for Valentines: Ann LoV.
I first connected with Ann on the dancefloor, and slowly learned of her awesome DJ skills, and enjoyed her awesome weekly radio show, ‘Ann LoV Presents Gems'. She then first played for me up on our massive rooftop at an epic private party - a driving set that drove us all to a frenzy. More recently she’s been exploring a gentler sound, with gorgeous productions overlaying her own vocals. We’re delighted to welcome her to open our night with a slightly more driving sound, lusciously overlaid with her beautiful voice as she sings live for us.

Her passion for music began with her toy turntable, and from a tender age, she was busy crafting songs, experimenting and layering harmonies.
She studied the performing arts at college as a teenager, devoting any spare evenings to electronic music production. Her first EP was a kaleidoscopic fusion of Pop, R&B, and ambient, drawing inspiration from disparate genres (from folk to film soundtracks), and effortlessly reconfiguring them.

Soon she was appearing at festivals, performing vocals as part of a hip-hop collective, and by 2001 had her first release on the Gospel record label. After a period of touring nationally and internationally, her career pivoted towards dance music, and soon enough her soulful vocals became a much sought after commodity in the industry. Collaborations spanning house and trance showcased her versatile vocal prowess whilst she also began building inclusive communities, organising club nights and meetups for the UK Trance Society.

In 2019 she began a residency at Saturo Sounds, leading to multiple guest appearances on prestigious platforms like Bloop, Proton, Frisky, and Svara Radio. Her repute as a shrewd selector rippled beyond London's borders, guiding her to stages, clubs, and festivals as far as Estonia. She has produced a strong portfolio of originals and remixes, released on Saturo Sounds, 64K Recordings, Polyptych Limited, and ARRVL, all laced with intricate, emotive melodies and cavernous dubby atmospheres.
Her label 'Inner LoV' epitomizes her ethos, dedicated to releasing progressive electronic music featuring vocals. Her debut release ‘Carry On’ perfectly encapsulates the label's ethos, combining soulful ethereal vocals with deep, melodic techno - creating an utterly encompassing sonic experience.

We LOVE these creative evenings, & love seeing how much you can achieve very quickly. For those anxious that creating costumes takes forever - these making nights are great proof that you can make great things simply, cheaply, quickly - and super happily 😉 There were so many buzzing conversations to have that our core team made our accoutrements in about 5 minutes at the very end!

Flocking, flying, floating and feathered birds are one of our key costume inspirations for this event. Yellow, gold, orange and red are best to compliment our carnival colours!

COSTUME INSPIRATION 1 - today we finally start sharing some of our epic Pinterest, exploring various ways in which we can sartorially explore and celebrate and embody Carnival.
Hint 1: you don’t need to wear much ;) - we’re referencing spring, summer, the tropics & the beaches
Hint2: feathers ;)

We begin at the top - where crowns and headdresses stretch to heaven, any feathers almost taking flight. The key reference at the Rio Carnival is avian; revere and re-imagine the majesty of birds, which hold such deep cultural significance as spirits that can far surpass us.
We drool at the thought of a dancefloor full of bobbing feathers, like a sea of sentient totems.

Stretch upwards rather than outwards; the great advantage of going tall here is max impact with minimal impedance on your dance moves :)

Today we’re delighted to introduce our 3rd TechnoDRome Goddess - Dayane Leanddro, the last of our Brazilians that are each bringing their glorious flavour of Carnival to us.

She was born in the São Paulo countryside, in a small town called Piracaia, and later moved to Santos - the original landing point of many Europeans. Her dad is from Bahia, “my favourite place in Brasil - where my umbanda, samba and African roots come from.” She shared with me her DNA test, showing how deeply she is a true Brazilian, of richly mixed heritage - Iberian, Sardinian and Greek (yet also 5% Celtic); 20% MesoAmerican / Andean; Nigerian and North African from her father’s side.

Her musical journey began as a performer - as a ballet dancer, rehearsing daily; she recalls a blissful childhood, dancing daily to a live piano player. She moved to London 8 years ago, but it was in 2021 that she honed her DJ craft at London Sound Academy. Since then, she’s set dance floors ablaze at Ministry of Sound, Egg, Blue Marlin Ibiza, and legendary parties across Bulgaria, Amsterdam, Miami, and Brazil. She’s shared the stage with Chase & Status, Andy C, Curol, Meca, Menendez Brothers, also supported Nicky Romero, Lost Frequencies, Nora En Pure, The Shapeshifters and more.
Her international debut in 2022 saw her headlining in Bulgaria, Amsterdam, Ibiza, and Miami. She rounded last month playing an epic 10-hour set that left the dancefloor in amazement.

At our Isis & Osiris event, she transported us into an intergalactic, ancient-futuristic odyssey. Her set wasn’t just music—it was a tapestry of vibrations inspired by the mathematical mysteries of the pyramids, the duality of Isis and Osiris, and the whispers of extraterrestrial intelligence woven through human history. As the bassline pulsed, it felt like a cosmic portal opening—blurring the lines between ancient wisdom and futuristic frequencies.

In 2023, she launched Batida Perfeita, an event series celebrating Afro, Latin, and melodic house - and championing upcoming talents and authentic Brazilian performers and artists - all perfecty showcased at her bi-monthly residency at the legendary Ministry of Sound.
In July that year she also co-founded Batuque, a brand bringing the Afro-Brazilian underground movement to London, launching at Egg with the legendary DJ Curol also from Brazil.

She’s also a brilliant music producer. In November 2023, her debut Progressive House EP “Overcoming” (Of Us Records) hit #7 on Beatport’s Top 10 Progressive House Releases, becoming the label’s biggest release to date.
Her track “Love Again” (Universal Music BR), co-produced with Wanderson XVR,has amassed 137K+ streams in under a year. Her track “House in the Jungle,”is set for release with Kittball Records in just a few months, with other tracks due for release in the summer

Her music is laced with spirituality, and she took me to an Umbanda Temple recently to experience the full power of the only purely Brazilian religion. It was a beautiful night, and she has beautiful plans to artistically lace some of that beauty and reverence into her set. We always welcome all teh ways in which the ecstatic can become worshipful. She starts at midnight, just after our ritual; please leave home in time to get through the doors & cloakroom to be with us for this precious, unrepeatable moment; we cannot wait for you to hear and experience her.

Happy Monday!
Today we’re delighted to intro our 2nd DJ - CAROLES*, AKA Caroline Ramos - the firecracker from Rio, and 1 of Brazil’s top DJs.
I love her perfect tagline “Energy conductor💓” - so tree! & how her focus sounds so much like our own: “a ritual of connection and presence”

Caroles was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, & raves about it: “I absolutely love my city and its culture.” She began DJing at raves that were bursting out across the city in 2007, starting with electro house & progressive before exploring more hypnotic sounds, and becoming famous for her minimal sets, winning the "Best New Artist in Brazil" award in 2012, followed by "Best Female DJ" in 2013 and "Best Open Air DJ" in 2015 by DJ Sound magazine.
Soon enough she was playing at all the clubs & festivals, including five times at Universo Paralello (the largest alternative arts and culture festival in Latin America) and others like Ultra Music Festival Rio, Dedge Club, Deputamadre, Fosfobox, and Euphoria Open Air.

She infuses all genres of house & techno with luscious Brazilian elements, prominently featuring energetic, hypnotic drums and vocals in Portuguese - all inspired by her love for Rio - which she lovingly calls “the birthplace of samba. It’s everywhere, on every corner, in every house, from January to December. Every weekend, you’ll find a good samba circle and a traditional feijoada in any part of the city. It’s in my blood; it’s a privilege to introduce a bit of our culture into electronic music.
Just like in techno or house, the samba drums and the Afro-Brazilian elements of Umbanda lead us into a tribal ritual, a collective atmosphere of immense love for music and the present moment.
Carnival is the best time of the year for us, and I’m very happy to share a little of that with the rest of the world. Carnival is joy, it's color, it's relaxation, it's summer - and it is this energy that we like to carry throughout the year.”

She’s all fired up and full flow developing a very special set for us, and we’re deeply excited to unleash her gorgeous energy on the TechnoDrome decks.

Happy Imbolc! It’s the 1st day of the 2nd month, so by some seasonal calcs, only 1 month remains until the 1st day of Spring, though its force is already felt; we’re getting there!
There are less than 2 weeks to go til our epic energetic remix of Rio Carnival, suffused with the love of Valentines - & we’ve been so head down in prep that we’ve neglected to communicate much about our peeps & plans, so there’ll be a light flurry over these last few days.

Today we’re delighted to intro one of our TechnoDrome goddesses - the amazing YazzMin (AKA Yasmin Kisoenpersad). Half Brazilian, half-Dutch, her parents met in a club; she was literally born from music, and grew up immersed in strains of samba & old Brazilian ballads. Her Dad is from Salvador in Bahia, and exemplifies that unique Brazilian energy - always smiling and joyful and grateful; always up for a party - and YazzMin has clearly fully inherited this.
She had a deep reconnection with Brazil during the pandemic when she got stranded there, wandering the streets of the Rio Carnival, which she absolutely fell in love with. She rejoiced at their celebratory love of life - and their national reverence for women; at how women hold the power and prominence, with full support from men; that everyone recognises the goddess within. I love this so much!

She grew up in Ibiza, which she still calls home, the place where she first honed her music, with balearic beats influencing her signature blend of afro and deep house with melodic techno - all gently infused by the spirit of Brazil. She studied business and international languages at university, but music called stronger - and she quickly emerged as a stellar DJ & producer, playing across the island and increasingly the world. Soon enough she was pinched by Pacha, and recently relocated to Dubai with them, from where she kindly joins us.

She’s not just a incredible DJ or producer; she’s a stealth healer. Her mixes invite us all to connect with our truth, have faith, persevere, release, and always give thanks. We had an incredible synergetic introductory chat, and I’m overjoyed at the extent of our artistic and spiritual alignment; we had so much resonance and so much to talk about, and thus have so much to share with you, and cannot wait for you to experience her with us.

Carnival is all about MUSIC. Its music expresses the joy of life, and celebrates the movement of the body. We watched the classic old award-winning movie Black Orpheus (1957) last night, Orpehus & Eurydice reimagined in a Rio mountaintop favela, and relished the feverish, psychedelic, almost-crazed endless dancing to the ceaseless soundtrack. The film, now deeply dated, is almost more like a long music video, where drumming hands and dancing feet just cannot stop…

Our events are complex, intricate & immersive - but ultimately we all converge on the dancefloor; we focus on the music, and the gorgeous, mysterious ways it moves our bodies & souls. So we are ecstatic to finally share our luscious DJ lineup - a pantheon of geniuses that come to us from all corners of the globe - a diversity perhaps slightly mirroring Brazil’s unparalleled richness.

Room 1 is our spectacular pulsing TechnoDrome, the largest room of what was once the biggest club in London, strewn with stages and floats and lights and aerialists and performers, powered by an all-star all-female krew playing driving melodic techno & deep house, with hints of afro-house & carnival, sas & Rio - 3 of our 4 DJs have Brazilian origins; 1 is from Rio. Caroles (awesome insta tagline: “"Energy conductor💓 A ritual of connection and presence") kindly flies in from there, pumped with the vibes of a city that is already in full swing practicing preparing for the Carnival that starts a fortnight after ours. YazzMin (with the perfect Carnival tagline - “laughter is the best sound”) also has Brazilian roots (her Dad is from Salvador, the birthplace of Samba), and recently relocated from Ibiza to Dubai, from where she joins us to close Room1 with her stunning Afro-infused sounds and own productions.
Meanwhile, Dayane Leanndro, born and raised in Santos near Sao Paolo, and who also runs the Brazilian talent booking agency Batida Perfeita & runs Brazilian nights at The Ministry of Sound (who we’re still trying to convince to let us run a night with them), will be curating a unique set accompanied by lots of Brazilian moments and rituals.
Our sole, deeply soulful local Londoner, Ann Lov (perfect Valentines name!) steps up to open, suffusing a more driving version of her entrancing dubby techno with her gorgeous live vocals.

Room2 is our more intimate jungle upstairs, immersing our ecstatics in foliage and greenery, with a more approachable relationship to the DJ to really create sensual crowd vibes, inviting our carnivalgoers to grind together and get lusciously hot & sweaty & ecstatic. We’re again working with amazing Katie Breen (DJ kayḆe from our MadMa### & Summer of Love events, who runs the Sanctuary Sessions) who has helped curate and manage this room, developing a dreamy, tropical, seductive space with a slightly lower mid-tempo BPM and a deeper, more organic feel, suffused with jungle sounds, gentle sophisticated psychedelia, and the unknowable mysteries of majestic Brazilian landscapes.
Don Son (born in Bucharest) journeys from Basel not Brazil, bringing his signature deep driving grooves, creating epic and enigmatic moments infused with ethnic hypnotic elements. Sophie Joe*, originally from Singapore, crosses the channel from the mountains to bring her gorgeous classically-trained sound, a hybrid live set overlaid with her haunting live vocals, singing Brazilian Portuguese vocals. Finally, South African-born, Amsterdam-based Poizon Ivy will then unfurl amidst the foliage to close with a stunning infusion of tropical and tribal beats infused with the sound of nature, mixed with organic percussion and vocal samples from indigenous inhabitants of the Brazilian Jungle.
