We wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for music, so here’s to all the magnificent DJs (and now musicians) who keep us all whirling and healing, whisking us on all those beautiful journeys.

Though our space is much more intimate at New Year’s Eve, we’re very excited to continue to offer 3 music options - 1 larger room with driving melodic techno; 1 gentler and deeper dancefloor; & a smaller room dedicated to live music, performance & interaction.
F&B NYE + 10TH BIRTHDAY COSTUME 7 - CHAIN MAIL HELMETS—-
Today, as we continue our sartorial bodyscan down the head and body, we love the elegant, unexpected and perhaps slightly eccentric female embrace of the medieval chainmail helmet - as a kind of sleek, scifi modern hairstyle combining sharp fringe and sensual side locks.
The chainmail helmet, though revived from a time long distant, was the perfect modern symbol of the age - powerful, sleek, shiny; stylishly monochromatic, and newly cross-gender. Women looked like new warriors, mirroring their emancipation and empowerment.
They also looked like fantasy starlets from the silver screen, wearing machine-age metal - an intricate grid of rings that haute-couture photographers like Edward Steichen and George Hoyningen-Huene eternalised. This wasn’t rear-looking revival, but future-embracing reinvention.
The 20s was such a wildly productive cultural machine - thrustingly modern, yet historically voracious in reference. It thrillingly blended Byzantine, Oriental and Egyptian motifs; Tutankhamun’s tomb was uncovered in 1922, inciting “Tutmania” & the “Nile Style”. Some of these chain mail headdresses even look like Cleopatra’s hairstyle.
The medieval look was also everywhere - in long designer gowns with rich jewels (think Gloria Swanson), the stylised medieval illustrations of knights, princesses, banners, and castles
by Erté and Kay Nielsen, and NeoGothic and Tudor Revival architecture. Even the Chrysler Building, that elegant epitome of machine-age Art Deco, had gothic ornament (a little more on all of this soon…).
Your chainmail needn’t be metal. Perhaps it might mesh gems and stones, pearls or threads. The gorgeous opportunities for creative reimagining and sleek styling are excellent - and endless!
All male tickets are now sold out for Sensual Speed Dating with Lauren & I next Tuesday evening, 11/11 at the Island Queen.

This 3rd iteration of our Sensual Speed Dating is our humble offering to the dating scene, giving prominence and voice to the intuitive, embodied and visceral. This will be a fun, playful event, awakening all the senses, and welcoming open-hearted imagination and authenticity.

F&B NYE + 10TH BIRTHDAY COSTUME 6 - Headpieces —-
We’re going to spend the next 2 weeks exploring some of the wild and lavish possibilities for the HEAD & FACE.
Today we celebrate all the explosive ways you can adorn your head, with pearls and jewels and feathers. We especially welcome that subtler intersection between generously maximising - & stylish minimalism, centering on a monochromatic palette.
Earlier next week on Tuesday evening, we offer a playful, open-hearted, non-judgemental space where single people can explore loving connection (upstairs at the Island Queen, N1).
We feel deeply called to help provide more opportunities for our community to truly connect in depth and authenticity. We also believe that, though communication is key, words can obfuscate and mislead. Our stories mask what our heart and body know and tell best.
Our autumnal iteration of this workshop explores new, sensual and loving ways for us all to connect - not through chat and banter, but simply through the pleasure and wisdom of our senses.
This is Speed Dating reimagined - through touch and taste, scent and sound, and always with pure presence.
This event will pair men with women (we regret that in such a small setting, we cannot cater to all genders and sexualities), and speedily rotate through a number of experiences, offering everyone a full chance to meet each other through a smorgasbord of rich sensations.

The workshop starts at 830pm - but we will also be hosting our November Fox&Badge Monthly Meetup beforehand (for free; talking allowed ;*), from 630pm; please come & say hi! This is always a great chance either for newbies and those that haven’t been to come & suss the vibe & ask questions, or for everyone to come catch up.
