A wild sustainable wreath and a quote for dark days ……
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King Jr., “Strength to Love” (1963)

On gifts, gathering and Gaia…….
………. gathering in this home is now never going to be taken for granted …….
………. and while there will be gifts, the presence of others in just over a week for our early Christmas - or EC24 if you’re in the know - is the thing to be celebrated.
…….. so there is decking of the halls and a wreath for our door- I am changing my rule of Florist’s door last, aren’t you?!!!!
…… and Gaia? Well I’ve started to read more about the earth as a whole self regulating system- us included - and as part of that big beautiful ecosystem, we’re seeking to be a net positive- so we’re carrying on growing foliage and flowers, food and adding more and more medicinal herbs……
…….. and our wreaths? Well this year, our wreaths are focused on being as completely compostable as they can be - no plastic and no wires - and reusable frames and are entirely sustainable……. I am fiercely proud to be a Florist just an unconventional one ###x
……. no beauty without being beautiful to the earth is our new mantra- what’s your Gaia plans for your floral creations?

Wreaths for Winter solstice, an announcement and a return ................ as we’re tipping into the darker winter, a moment I adore incidentally, there’s another moment of our creative plans I am delighted to announce....... Fierceblooms will be part of “Art & Craft in the Hall” at Cilcain Village Hall, Flintshire, North Wales.
Come and visit all the artisan makers to celebrate all that is locally made and the beauty of hand crafted art. I am assured there will be cake. That said, the Scot refuses to absolutely guarantee that we won’t have eaten all the flapjacks before we get there...
And the return? Well, this Welsh born floral artisan is always delighted to return to the land of her fathers........
Saturday 23rd Novemver, join us and come and say hello:

The cafe will raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices - a very good reason to eat cake x

“Nothing is wholly good or wholly bad” ……. a few thoughts on AI and a wreath …..
…… I paraphrase my Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 compatriot Dylan Thomas- and I wonder what he and Thomas Telford whose Wharf I stand infront of - would have made of Chat GPT….
……there are some really great things about being able to ask something that can find and think and search MUCH faster than you can to summarise; you do need to provide a good question and point out a detailed context is my experience though …..
…….. and of course I have stated to meta that I object- as who really knows what you’re actually agreeing to even with an objection.
…… but AI cannot - yet - create a wreath, unless someone has seen that it is now possible- and by making, I mean the craft and art of creativity, the choosing of inspiration, the expression of emotion …..
…… so an autumnal wreath that coordinates with the garden - because it is from the garden - when my response to the world is creating rather than the opposite - with purple emperor sedum, clematis seed heads, ninebark and pink Annabel hydrangea.
…… keep your floral heads up, darlings- I am telling myself this too …….

Not just any old bucket of dahlias and a garden work boot ……
…… that is the hard toed boot that took me Chelsea flower show and with some reluctance have I let it go to boot retirement - the split seam and hole in the bottom may have hastened its demise mind you …. and the dahlias?
…… well they are still flowering their socks off - preference, just Jowey, labyrinth and wine eyed Jill a favourite combination all growing together in our canalside cutting garden…..
They’re favourites for their strong stems, productivity despite the lack of sunshine and their colours which seem to bring out the absolute best in each other. Any favourites for you this summer?

Beauty, beginnings and being bold…….
….. from our wild garden to your wild hearts, as our blue seedlings 🌱 are stoped temporarily under a frosted starry sky, I am reminded ‘tis the season of rest and patience but particularly for us this year, our seasonal endeavours are:
…… the joy and beauty of learning to love life fiercely and that includes the love for our wild garden and her trees and her hedgerows and currently the wood mice eating the wires on the car 😂……
…… soon we will celebrate Welsh Valentines St Dwynwen’s Day - the Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 patron saint of lover’s and fall in love all over again with nature’s beauty and her craft
…… so from our canalside cutting garden and the Wharf where we gather and make our wild garden style floral arrangements, we’ll be making wild garden style wreaths all over again……
…… in the photo is an example of one of my everlasting flower wreath made of flowers grown here. If you wish to support our local environmentally driven business and send some love, we’ll be delighted to deliver flowers from our garden to send everlasting love - contact [email protected]

…..diolch un fawr - thank you 🙏 for supporting our endeavours to create a florally sustainable business with our Cheshire grown flowers - from our grateful hearts 🥰
…… and may the slow silence of the New Year’s winter day greet you with peaceful beauty…..

On new beginnings……
…… sometimes the greatest challenge is to actually begin;
…… so said the insightful and inspiring John O’Donohue whose words and wisdom continue to shape and influence our path…..
…… so from a yellow hatted girl with a white floral wreath on our white door made with flowers dried and grown locally we are cleaning, out with the old, in with the new……
….. so for this new year’s, as with all our growing and future plans for our gardens, there is always the same hope and opportunity………
there is something deep in us that conspires with what wants to remain within safe boundaries and stay the same… Sometimes a period of preparation is necessary, where the idea of the beginning can gestate and refine itself; yet quite often we unnecessarily postpone and equivocate when we should simply take the risk and leap into a new beginning
Often when something is ending we discover within it the spore of new beginning, and a whole new train of possibility is in motion before we even realize it. When the heart is ready for a fresh beginning, unforeseen things can emerge. And in a sense, this is exactly what a beginning does. It is an opening for surprises. Surrounding the intention and the act of beginning, there are always exciting possibilities
Part of the art of living wisely is to learn to recognize and attend to such profound openings in one’s life.
….. wishing you peace and the happiest of new years from the Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 one and me x
