Our final concert of the current series is almost upon us .... this Saturday, April 6 at 11am, St Philip and St James Grafton St Cheltenham.

'Old King Cole' explores the music that Warwick Cole's famous ancestor enjoyed - Pachelbel, Purcell, Boismortier, Fox and Handel. Apparently this is him calling for his bowl and pipe ...

Usual time, usual place with extra helpings of Grannie Annie Cole's lemon drizzle cake. What's not to like?

Next concert is this coming Saturday, February 10th - CBSO Baroque Ensemble playing music by J C Bach, Charles Avison and Handel.

Katherine Thomas is playing her triple harp - she's promised a short video introduction which we will post in due course, but if you're at all curious as to how a triple harp differs from a single- or a double-action action, then come to Pip & Jim to find out. Coffee and cake from 10.30am.
.. and here are a couple of photos from our recent rehearsal at the CBSO centre.

Slight emergency here at Café Corelli: the bake element on our only working oven gave up the ghost over the weekend.

Several calls to local tradesman later, we discover £96 per half hour labour, plus parts is the cost. And no, they can't do it this week.

Luckily Lois was on hand! YouTube is a great resource, and having ordered the part she fitted it and the oven is working again ... at a fraction of the cost. Phew!

And cakes are back on the menu for this Saturday's concert. See you there!!!!

Just spent several pleasant hours rehearsing with Laurence Kempton for this Saturday's Coffee Concert at St Philip and St James.

Here's the opening of the delicious Finzi Romance (recorded on a phone so there's a bit of hiss - apologies). Schubert and Dvorak will make up the remainder of the programme.

Cake beforehand - any requests?

Happy New Year to all Coffee Concert supporters!

Just a quick reminder that we restart our new series in our new venue next Saturday January 7 with the Corelli Ensemble playing baroque chamber music - the usual mix of familiar and no-so-familiar.

We're going to be rehearsing on Friday, so we'll pop a little preview on this page then. See you for the usual coffee and cake from 1030.

Here's an electronic copy of our new bookmark. First concert in new venue on January 7 ... if you can help by spreading ...

Fingers crossed ... here's hoping this time no-one succumbs to Covid ...

Coffee Concerts restart for a second time on February 5. In a strange twist of fate, our last concert before lockdown was with our friends from the CBSO ... and they're back to serenade you with music by Handel, Uccellini, CPE Bach, Corelli and Telemann.

Do come! As ever, coffee and cake from 10.30. Future programmes - as far as we can plan them - revealed on the bookmark attached.

Admission free - retiring collection etc.

27/12/2021

We regret that we have had to cancel the New Year's Day concert because two of our performers have tested positive for Covid.

We wish Hannah and Katherine a speedy recovery.

14/12/2021

Looking forward to our New Year's coffee concerts ... January 1 is a Viennese-style NYD concert from the Enigma Ensemble complete with clap-along Radetzky March and waltzes and polkas from Johann Strauss and co.

January 1 at 11am ...
