The Role

● Managing stock and ordering food + catering items from suppliers
● Ensure that all waste disposal is carried out
● Managing health and safety + hygiene procedures
● Ensuring the food is of highest quality and well presented front of house
● Support with the front of house service
● Provide high standards of of client care at all times and enforce this from the rest of the staff
● To assist in the delivery of events and hospitality across the site

Requirements

● Basic knowledge of all sections when working in a busy kitchen
● Ability to produce good quality basic food
● Good understanding of health and safety
● Good understanding of basic food hygiene practices
● Basic team management skills
● High level of attention to detail
● Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
● Ability to work under the supervision of a limited range and deliver quality work
● Good oral communication
● Good level of numeracy and computer skills
● Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
● Taking initiative
● Able to work as a team with a positive can-do-attitude
● A hunger to learn new skills

Sous Chef Job Opportunity!!

Works alongside head chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Provides meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.

Sous Chef Job Role:

• Leads kitchen team in chef's absence
• Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
• Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
• Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance
• Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
• Hires and trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards
• Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
• Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
• Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organisation, staff ability, and training opportunities
• Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
• Assists head chef with menu creation
• Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing

Working hours: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - about 45 weeks per year

Key Responsibilities
The right candidate will be responsible for a group of schools and cafes within the main catering contract, this will include achieving financial targets, employee management, sickness absence management, staff performance and appraisals, complete operational audits and reports etc.
Main Duties
★ Developing excellent working relationships with schools, site-based teams, suppliers, parents/carers
★ Be the main contact from our client
★ To ensure the efficient and effective delivery of catering operations
and designated services to the client organisation in accordance with
the agreement of the contract
★ Attention to details and a Problem solver
★ Monitoring quality level of JPL food, health and safety, food safety,
training needs, procedural compliance
★ Manage the Catering Operation with the available resources within budget and to achieve sales and GP targets
★ Working with the team to develop compliant exciting menus, Allergen information and recipes
★ Motivate, coach and train staff to perform to the highest standards and in line with JPL policies
★ Plan and manage client events like (fairs, open days, staff party, christmas party and inset days)
★ Contribute to wider corporate initiatives.
★ To actively seek and identify opportunities and innovation for business
growth & development with focus on latest food trends and best practices.
