TIME TO MEET YOUR CLARENCE UNLEASHED ARTISTS!

Fond of Rudy

An Indie Pop 4-piece formed in London/Brighton. Their songs are washed with stylistic references from 80s icons and revived to a state of modernity through contemporary production.

With support on a string of singles from the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing London, CLASH Music and Wonderland Magazine, Fond of Rudy started touring across the UK supporting Cassia, Annabel Allum, Only Sun, Clean Cut Kid. This helped them to secure a slot at Canadian Music Week and embark on a mini-tour of North America.

Fond of Rudy’s epic and hook-filled Alternative Indie Pop has generated an influx of new followers attending their energetic live shows.

Why not pop down to Wah Wah Records and show your support.

As always, thank you to all our customers. You are massively appreciated and I see your support, either coming to collect records or browsing through the racks (or both!) it takes effort to shop with us and you are all ace for making the effort.
It’s definitely been a testing summer, won’t go into specifics as I’m actually tired of hearing my own thoughts/words on it! But I look into the near future with optimism/hope. Our Vinyl bonanza day on the 28th of Oct (which I am genuinely excited about just having/seeing/selling this kind of stock) National Album Day (14th of Oct) and the usual run in we get to Christmas. Hope you can frequent our shop for all you need.
I’m always the first to admit mistakes I’ve made and like to think I can learn from them, as mentioned in a post a few month ago, as nice as the new shop is, how we fill it so well and how much people love it it may well end up being a financial jump we can’t afford (lots of decisions to be made on this in 2024) we may have to regress to exist….or some variation of that. We’ll see how we go. There will always be a Wah Wah though, in some form, as that is me, it’s a massive part of my life that I’d struggle to live without if I’m honest.
A different mistake I’ve made (in hindsight) was not doing RSD, not the day itself or the limited, coloured vinyl it releases for that day. But in particular the limited coloured vinyl records Warner Records give to RSD partaking shops the rest of the year. Blur’s new album and a plethora of other releases (including a coloured vinyl variant of the just announced New Order ‘Substance’) have literally taken money out of our pockets, you lose the big releases and you soon see the funds dwindling and the bills rack up and your shop not pushing its weight. That has been much of 2023’s story, amongst lots of other stuff of course, stuff we can’t change, but we can change the RSD thing, in 2024. Maybe. Obviously it goes against lots of my personal morals like Why should we be held over a barrel by a record label?, and why are they seemingly so interested in forcing smaller shops hands to sign up to RSD?, a day born to help support independent record shops hammering further nails into them for seemingly no reason for a full year if they don’t sign up for a one day event. Of course there will be a reason, we just don’t know it. So maybe if we can’t beat them we should join them? Play the game, play it clever. If the business depends upon it then maybe it’s just necessary, but putting our Wah Wah spin on it.
Personally I’m tired of limited coloured vinyl and how it’s been hijacked , but I shouldn’t make my views impact on the shop. There’s many that love the coloured look of wax or that desire the limited status of it, who am I to discourage or put my own reasoning into your buying habits.
Anyway, that’s a long, long way of putting we’re here to fight the good fight, next year will be our 10 year anniversary and I’ve got nothing but passion for keeping the good ship Wah Wah rumbling. It’s going to be tough, we’ll need you.
Thanks for your support.
