Thank you to everyone who has ordered a Clarence Park Festival t-shirt. We have had it confirmed by our printer that there is a little delay and they won’t be available until the first week in September. We will be getting them to everyone as soon as we can.

A little more Clarence joy - if you enjoyed CharliePadfield’s set (and what’s not to like - he’s fabulous!), then catch him on Saturday night at The Polka Hop Wakefield.

A little late but thank you to all those who came to see me at Clarence Park Festival last weekend and to Wakefield Music Collective for putting on another fab festival! I will be returning to The Polka Hop this Saturday at 8:30 for another evening of 6 string chaos. Come down and enjoy yourself in these trying times. If the kids are united then we’ll never be divided.

It’s way too early and we’re far too tired to put into words how we feel about this year’s Clarence Park Festival. But thank you so much to all the fabulous acts who took part over the weekend, thank you to everyone who worked so hard to organise, arrange, build and tidy to make sure that the festival could happen, but most importantly of all: THANK YOU to everyone who came, listened to the music, danced in front of the bandstand, had picnics on the hill and had a good time.

TIME TO MEET YOUR CLARENCE UNLEASHED HEADLINERS!

The Manchester Anthems

The Manchester Anthems melodies resonate deeply with listeners. Drawing inspiration from the rebellious streets of Manchester, their exhilarating sound blends retro and modern influences into a unique tribute.

The Manchester Anthems bring the ecstatic spirit of seminal bands like The Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays and The Charlatans to the stage. Their set list is packed with retro-tinged anthems celebrating the trailblazers who defined the Manchester generation.

With emotive vocals and high-octane guitar licks, The Manchester Anthems capture the danceable rhythms and psychedelic riffs that came to define the baggy movement. They also deliver high-energy renditions of the scene’s most iconic tracks, stirring up singalongs and mosh pits. Their drummer pounds out those primal Madchester beats as the band brings this beloved era to life.

TIME TO MEET YOUR CLARENCE UNLEASHED HEADLINERS!

Dodgy

Formed in Hounslow in 1990, Dodgy rose to prominence during the Britpop era of the 1990s. They are best known for their hits "Staying Out for the Summer", "If You're Thinking of Me", and "Good Enough". "Good Enough" was their biggest hit, reaching No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. They released their latest album, What Are We Fighting For, in September 2016.

Safe to say we are very excited to welcome Dodgy as our Sunday night headliners for what will surely be an incredible finish to the festival this year!

TIME TO MEET YOUR CLARENCE UNLEASHED ARTISTS!

Ghost Dance

After departing from Skeletal Family in 1985, Anne-Marie Hurst co-founded Ghost Dance with Gary Marx (formerly of Sisters of Mercy). Ghost Dance released several indie chart hit singles through Karbon Records, which were later compiled on the ‘Gathering Dust’ album. In 1989 they signed to Chrysalis Records and released the ‘Stop The World’ album and two more singles, with ‘Down To The Wire’ peaking at No. 66 in the UK singles chart.

In 2019 Anne Marie reformed Ghost Dance with ex-Harlequyn members Tim Walker, Phil Noble and Dave Wood, then in 2020 Stephen Derrig (formerly of Original Sin) completed the line-up and work commenced on a new album. The new single ‘Falling Down’ was released on Voltage Records in August 2021, with ‘Jessamine’ following in 2022. The new album ‘The Silent Shout’ was released on 5th May 2023 and includes two previously unreleased Gary Marx compositions. The album went straight in at number one in the iTunes ‘Gothic Rock’ chart and is still in the top twenty. The band had major features in Vive Le Rock and other music magazines in 2023.
