Can you believe it, we're almost halfway through February, and my diary is pretty packed for the rest of the month! I'm really excited about a workshop I'll be attending all day today with the awesome Kelly Mortimer and some talented wedding professionals at Ashridge House. Also, I can't wait for the Ascend workshop hosted by Louise and Kat in Hampshire at the Four Seasons next week. As a wedding planner, I often get asked if I prefer Indian weddings or white weddings. Honestly, I love both for different reasons. As someone of Indian ethnicity, Indian weddings hold a special place in my heart. The vibrant colors, intricate details and rich cultural traditions always leave me in awe. ​​​​​​​​​On the other hand, I can't help but feel like I'm living in a romantic Hollywood movie when planning a white wedding. I'd love to dive into the heartwarming traditions and introduce you all to ceremonies that are a symphony of years of traditions and love.

Roka: The official engagement ceremony where the families meet to finalise the match and mark the formal announcement and acceptance of the upcoming union.

Mehendi: This is the application of henna on the bride's hands and feet.

Milni: It's the coming together of two families where the groom's family is welcomed by the bride's family just before the wedding ceremony.

Jaimala: It's a ceremony where the bride and groom exchange garlands to symbolise acceptance of each other and the beginning of their journey together.

Pheras: The main wedding ceremony where the couple walks around a sacred fire, taking seven vows to uphold their marital responsibilities. Each vow represents a commitment to different aspects of married life.

Vidaai: It's the bride's farewell. An emotional departure of the bride from her parental home as she leaves for her marital home.
