Off to Cornwall on Wednesday! Enjoyed a marvellous plug for our schools’ concert in Truro on BBC Cornwall - we’d better make sure it’s as much fun as they promise 😄

What a beautiful day we had for our opening concert - the church actually still felt warm! And even warmer once we’d finished with the Brahms 😊 Fantastic atmosphere as ever.
Very much looking forward to tonight - Thomas Kelly’s recital followed by “Who’s Afraid of Arnold Schoenberg”! (Hopefully no one once they’ve heard us…)

This is said to be a painting of Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, Bach’s student, apparently known as “Notenfresser”. Whether or not the variations were written for him, to relieve Bach’s employer’s insomnia or simply because Bach wanted to compose them, they are an extraordinary piece of music.
Join us on Saturday, 16th for a coffee concert at All Saints Church, East Meon, where we will play them in the string trio version!

This young man is the most amazing pianist and you can hear him in the first concert on the second day of this year’s Festival! Thomas Kelly’s programme is gorgeous; worth having a look! And you may even want to stay and experience a bit of Mahler and Schoenberg in the second concert - we promise to make it an entertaining as well as interesting experience!

This concert included two of the works on offer at West Meon in September - judging by the audience reaction they went rather well…
Will Duerden was incredible and anyone coming to hear him in the Trout Quintet on Sep 16 is in for a treat. And of course the Mozart Duo will open the festival on Sep 14 - such a wonderful piece!

One of the items on the disc will feature in this year’s French Finale on the Sunday!

Relieved smiles all round! A tough 4 1/2 days of recording gorgeous French music on a beautiful Erard - but we’ve done it! Thanks to Rikki Casmara and Meridian Records for the stunning sound and Jonathan Lyness and Huw Morgan for their patient producing. Now it’s just down to the editor….and who might that be? 😊

The Primrose Piano Quartet was formed in 2004 by four renowned chamber musicians and is named after the violist, William Primrose.

What a fantastic festival it’s been. Thank you so much to our audiences and to our wonderful helpers. And save the date: we’ll be back Sep 14-17 next year!

What a way to start a festival! We heard the sad news of Her Majesty's death an hour before the start of the opening concert so we were able to mark the occasion with a minute's silence. The programme turned out surprisingly appropriate for the occasion - particularly the Tchaikovsky Trio...We would like to assure audiences that the rest of the festival will go ahead as planned but we will pay our respects with further silences before the main concerts. Official guidance leaves the decision up to the individual promoter and we very much feel to carry on would be in line with what Her Majesty herself would have wanted - particularly after the last two years.
