Workshops (Pre School, Home Ed, After School), Parties, Holiday Camps, Nursery & Schools Programme. I have been part of WoW World Group since 2010, running my own Baby Sensory & Mini Professors Classes in Reading & Oxford area. Since moving back down to Weymouth in the summer of 2022, I have been given the opportunity to bring Mini Professors to this area too, which I am very excited about. I love

being a part of someone's special celebration and showing science in a fun and interactive way, it certainly brings a smile to my face and hopefully the children too .... going by the squeals of excitement as children involve themselves in experiment after experiment, they certainly look like they are having a great time too. This is why I absolutely love the job I do!

Join Jamie, our Mini Professor, as he shows you how to make a xylophone using just a few items you already have at home.

This experiment is not only lots of fun but teaches your children the science of sounds too. "

Mini Professors offer really engaging classes. My 8yr old loves every session, and always comes away having learned something. We usually go home and expand on the topic covered, having gotten a spark of excitement for it with Professor Lee's hands on experiments and demonstrations.

The space is bright, spacious, welcoming, and clean.

The group is small, which is perfect for us, and very welcoming. There's usually about 5-6 children. Parents are welcomed to join in or sit in the adjoining room and have a bit of a break!

The length and pace is perfect - 45 minutes, with one or two hands on experiments that the children all take part in, a song, a short video and a simple discussion with props.

The group is inclusive and the children are free to move about, ask questions, wiggle, stim, and generally act as they need to. Lee always manages to effortlessly bring attention back to the topic at hand without stopping self expression or preventing neurodivergent children from meeting their needs for movement or info dumping!

There's lots of free parking in the Southill carpark, and then a 1 minute walk up the steps and along the footpath.

Be aware that the booking form won't let you submit it if your child is 8+, but Lee is really responsive on WhatsApp and happy to be flexible about ages, so it's worth reaching out to her if the website tells you no.

The classes are definitely suitable for children aged older than 8 - I can see them entertaining kids up to about age 10.

I hope this review is helpful for anyone like me, who likes to know all of the little details before joining something new!

To summarise: I highly recommend the group, and we can't wait to go back in September. 👨‍🔬❤️

"Would your toddler like to be a nurse when they grow up?

Aside from all of the training and knowledge you need to become a nurse, this profession requires critical thinkers and problem solvers.

Specifically, strong critical thinking skills are necessary to put together pieces of information that may seem unrelated (such as medications for different conditions) and draw rational conclusions.

Whilst your toddler won't be training to become a nurse anytime soon, they CAN develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

AND now is the perfect time to start honing these skills as toddler's are naturally inquisitive and want to learn.

Our Mini Professors classes help to support the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as lots of other skills, which lay the foundations for future learning.

Grab a zip lock plastic bag, some pencils & pens & a jug of water and have a go at this magic science experiment with our Mini Professor, Jamie.

As always, prior to the visits, Lee was well organised and well planned. There was excellent liaison to ensure that everything would be ready for the days planned.
ON the actual days, she presented the sessions with real enthusiasm and passion, the children absolutely loved the experiments and were in awe of what she taught and encouraged them to do. I've not seen a Year 6 group, so close to leaving, still so utterly engaged in their work as with her. We'll continue to use her in the future as much as our budget will allow.

As always, prior to the visits, Lee was well organised and well planned. There was excellent liaison to ensure that everything would be ready for the days planned. ★★★★★

"How do rockets work?

This can be a tricky thing to explain!

Imagine you are standing on a skateboard with a basketball in your hands. If you throw the basketball in one direction, you and the skateboard will roll in the opposite direction to conserve momentum. The faster you throw the ball, the faster you roll backward.

Rockets work by expelling hot exhaust that acts in the same way as the basketball. The exhaust's gas molecules don't weigh much individually, but they exit the rocket's nozzle very fast, giving them a lot of momentum. As a result, the rocket moves in the opposite direction of the exhaust with the same speed.

Do you think this is a good way of explaining how rockets work?"

"Did you realise that Polar Bears have black skin?

It's true!

Having black skin is really important though as it allows Polar Bears to absorb more UV light to stay warm.

Clever eh? "

My son’s words after having his party here “That was the best day ever! Professor Lee was so active!” It was brilliant and I would highly recommend, all I had to do was turn up with the party food, everything else was taken care of and we were greeted by Professor Lee who came across as excited as us and my son’s 20 classmates! The whole afternoon flowed nicely from start to finish. The children were fully engaged and transported into a world of science from the moment they entered the brightly painted venue in Weymouth. There wasn’t really any need for further Birthday themed decorations as it looks so impressive and inviting! If you’re not into science and fun I can guarantee you will be after a party here. The children loved being able to not only watch the experiments unfold but have a hands-on fun experience for themselves! We had children aged 5/6 with a few slightly older and younger siblings included as well as parents who watched in anticipation! Thank you so much Lee for a wonderful party and being a fantastic host.

"How are craters formed on the moon?

Try this science experiment at home with your children to find out the answer to this question.

You'll need:

-Flour
-Baby oil
-Small rocks or pebbles
-Round cake pan
-Mixing bowl
-Measuring cups

To conduct the experiment:

1. Mix half a cup of baby oil with four cups of flour.
2. Put the flour mixture into the round cake pan.
3. Level out the mixture. This will represent the surface of the moon for this demonstration.
4. Place the cake pan on the ground.
5. While standing over the cake pan, drop a rock onto the flour mixture and see what happens.

The mixture* is used to represent the surface of the moon. The rock represents an object impacting the surface of the moon and will leave a crater. You could also try different sized rocks and observe the changes in the crater size, shape, and depth.

*please note that this mixture is not edible. please supervise your children at all times whilst conducting this experiment"

"Why should my toddler learn about science?

Science helps children develop key life skills, including the ability to communicate, stay organised and focused, and even form their own opinions. Science also helps children develop their senses and overall awareness of the world around them.

Children are hands-on learners, and the world around them provides so many natural opportunities. Interacting with their environment, and learning about science, will support their intellectual development.

In addition children are primed for learning, and what they learn while they’re young can impact their interests later in life. Studies have shown that children begin to develop an interest in science during their early years. Having an interest and knowledge in this subject area will undoubtedly provide future career opportunities.

If you would like to introduce your toddler to science in a fun and engaging way, why not join one of our Mini Professors classes? For more information or to book a class visit www.miniprofessors.com"

Well done Baby Sensory and all those parents and babies that together raised this phenomenal amount for such an amazing cause. You are truly amazing 😻

The final numbers are in and we cannot believe it. This year our Baby Sensory families have raised £518,303 for Tommy's charity

We have blown away by everyone getting involved, from your Baby Sensory practitioners wearing pineapples to the tropical shirts we have seen on you parents and babies!

Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts.

That money could fund Tommy’s pregnancy information and support service for over a year. Providing free expert advice, support and reassurance to thousands of people planning for or worried about pregnancy. Including vital support through complications and baby loss and the free helpline service run by Tommy’s midwives.

As the weather seems to be warming up we wanted to share our hot nights information for any new followers or anyone wanting a reminder 💙❤️

For any pregnant mamas stick your feet in a cool bucket of water 💧 🪣 and have an ice lolly 🍦🧊😎

🌙🌙How to try and keep cool on a HOT night🌙🌙

Many parents worry about their young ones when the weather is very hot!

Here are our top tips!

☑️Prevention - Try to keep bedrooms cool during the day by closing windows and curtains/blinds (open windows when the hot air has cooled)🪟
Try not to use dark curtains/blinds. Try using a reflective material/colour
☑️Use a fan in the room to circulate the air (make sure this is a safe distance from little fingers with leads out of reach too - do not aim directly at a baby) 🪭
☑️Hang wet towels or sheets in the room. This will add moisture to the air and may help to cool the room further. Or...
☑️Place frozen bottles in front of a fan (again, please make sure this is out of reach of children and that any excess water is collected safely by standing bottle on a plate or towel) 🧊
☑️Give your little one a cool bath before bed and dress them in lighter clothing or just a nappy. If using a sleeping bag, please see the manufacturers guidance for the best tog for the correct temperature 🛁
☑️Use a room thermometer to help guide you 🌡️
☑️When checking babies' temperatures, do so by touching the back of their neck or tummy - NOT the hands or feet as these will be colder 👶🏼
☑️If they are sweaty or clammy, remove layers if possible
☑️If your baby is unwell, do not be tempted to cover them up
☑️Stay hydrated 💦

For more information or advice, you can visit NHS online

Later in the week we will share tips on how to choose suitable clothing for the weather
