Given we only set up a few months before lockdown, I’m still pleased to say well over 300 items of the nearly 50,000 are down to us…
Every little helps!

47,836 and counting! 🥳

Each year we count up the number of single-use items avoided through hires of our members’ party kits.

Despite many kits being closed for all or part of the last year we have still managed to log over 47k items so far.

That’s 47,836 plates, cups, bowls and cutlery that were NOT thrown away because people switched to reusables. 💚👍

Isn’t that amazing?! 🤩

The party kit concept is still fairly new and reusable tableware is not yet the norm, but this just shows our potential to reduce waste. So we’re keeping the faith and looking forward to smashing that total in 2022.

🧼 £5 of the deposit will be retained if the equipment is not returned spotless.

👨‍🍳 Kitchen equipment is also available (muffin trays, baking trays, mixing bowls, wooden spoons, cookie cutters, rolling pins - you name it, I’ve probably got it!)

We recently helped celebrate an older birthday ‘party’ - a few sets of couples visited separately for afternoon teas throughout the day and having lots of our kit meant all the washing up could be left until the end - what a great idea!

Here’s that Aloo Gobi Traybake I mentioned earlier in the week. It’s something Jon and I often have for dinner when there are various bits and bobs of veg in the fridge. I just boil extra new potatoes for the kids’ tea, and then it takes literally 10 minutes to throw together. The gnocchi I tried in it this week were next level though! With Doodle Doo Partyware closed for now, I’ve managed to cram a little bit of extra sustainability into my cookery school this week instead.
Two fabulous cookalong videos will:
1️⃣ Firstly show you how you can bake just one extra potato to make the basis of another meal (or even use leftover plain mash) in our fab Golden Gnocchi.
2️⃣ Secondly we use the gnocchi or leftover boiled potatoes and all the bits and bobs of leftover veg in your fridge for a gorgeous Aloo Gobi traybake.

(Yes, the curry paste is in a little plastic pot - but it’s all I could get in lockdown without driving miles to a big supermarket - I’ve washed it for reuse).

True story: I went to do a Cookery Doodle Doo party today and - distracted as I was setting up - I went to say ‘ooh, I’ve got those bowls too’ 🤦‍♀️
You’ve guessed it - it was MY party hire kit! 🤣
They collected it yesterday because they also hired 24 mini Tupperware pots in 2 different sizes so they could use them for pre-filled lunch bags. What a fab idea as this cuts out food waste as well as disposable waste!
Next time you have a party, why not hire out my Tupperwares too?!

Fortunately the party we were booked for this weekend is going ahead, but they didn’t need our kit after all. Very generously when they cancelled (with plenty of notice*), the family asked us to donate the entire hire fee and deposit to our chosen charity. That’s another £20 to Naomi House & Jacksplace, doubling our running total to a fabulous £40! Thank you so much!

*We ask for minimum 48 hours’ notice of any cancellations please 😊

Our 4th hire was a bit more unusual!
No items saved from landfill this time, but it’s still another £5 for Naomi House & Jacksplace (cumulative total £20) and a fun party outing for our preschool tables and chairs!

So exciting to be sent our first pictures of the kit ‘in action’!
Our platters, serving bowls, plates, snack bowls and cups can all be seen helping our hirer serve a delicious buffet for around 30 people at her NYE party last night.
And that’s another £5 to Naomi House & Jacksplace and another 68 items potentially not in the waste - taking our cumulative total to £15 and 219 items so far 💚
