I know I've been very quiet here! Been sidetracked with learning how to work a sewing machine, and retraining as a humanist celebrant! Lots of exciting things. But my lovely all suffering work colleagues will tell you that I still churn out a poem for them every Friday, and this was last weeks offering.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DOES GET ME A POEM DO?
It does what it says on the tin. It gets you a poem for any occasion - wedding speeches, birthdays, funerals, anniversaries. For all those special occasions in your life, you can capture them in rhyme to gift, to keep - a beautiful memento.

All I need from you is those wonderful personal details that will make the poem unique to you or to the person that you are gifting it to. I have a questionnaire that I can send to you to help you think through what you might want to say.

IS IT REALLY FREE?
YES. Get Me A Poem started as a small business idea, but in a short space of time, I realised I wasn’t comfortable taking money for something that I love doing, and wanted it to be accessible to everyone. If you get a poem from me and you can afford to do so, I would love it if you could make a small donation which will be used to help out Dallies Community Larder - a great local resource helping out people in Wishaw. DO I HAVE TO DONATE TO GET A POEM?
Absolutely not. Please only donate if you want to, and if you can afford to do so. You will get your poem regardless, as long as I have the time to fulfil your order. If I can’t, I will let you know.

Whilst I will make every effort to fulfil every order, I also work full time and have the usual obligations of life. Please only make a donation if you are happy to do so, and can afford to do so. If I can get your poem to you, I will. There may be times where I cannot fulfil every order, and if this happens, I will let you know.

WHY ARE YOU DOING IT FOR FREE? ARE YOU MAD?
Not mad, just in it for the love of it! Poetry should be accessible to all, not only to those that can afford it! I’m getting something from it, hopefully you’ll get something from it, and with any luck an important local charity will too.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Get Me A Poem is changing the way it operates. After much soul searching, I have decided that price shouldn’t be a barrier. Poetry should be accessible to all. From now on, when you request a poem from me, you don’t have to pay a thing. Not a sausage!

If you are able to, instead of paying me, I would appreciate it if you would make a monetary donation to Basics Food Bank in Wishaw for their 3W Supermarket Voucher model. For more information about this amazing charity, please check out their work. Donations can be made by clicking on the link below and I'll also put the link on the page.

Depending on demand, it may take longer to get your poem to you. If I feel I can’t fulfil your order owing to time constraints, I will let you know. Please don’t make a donation in expectation of a poem, and please only make a donation if you can afford to do so. Poems will be delivered to you via email with no expectation of any payment.

Some of you may know that my 18 year old daughter left me last week to pursue her own adventures. As a parent, I'm excited for her and scared in equal measure. This poem is for her and it's called 'I thought I had more time.'

It was such a privilege to complete this poem for one of my competition winners Fiona Purchase for the Clydesdale Parkinsons Support Group. Fiona tells me that they absolutely loved it, and it captured the group perfectly. They sound like an amazing bunch of people, and I was so pleased to be able to do this for them!
