Strategic Alignment | Q1 Review & Q2 Planning

Yesterday, our management team came together for a focused strategy day, joined by our business coach, Sanjiv.

The session provided a valuable opportunity to review our Q1 performance — celebrating the goals achieved and milestones reached — while also identifying key areas for improvement.

With Sanjiv’s support, we worked through a structured and high-impact agenda to ensure the entire team is aligned and prepared to deliver on our Q2 objectives.

Thank you to Sanjiv for facilitating such a productive session, and to the team for their energy, openness, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Today we welcomed back the legendary Carl Hutchings for another technical training session — this time focusing on the safe servicing and repair of commercial microwaves.

These appliances can be dangerous if handled incorrectly, so giving our engineers the right knowledge and confidence is absolutely vital. 👨‍🔧✅

It might look like a small job — but it’s a big deal for safety ⚠️🔌

On this refrigeration job, we fitted a local isolator where there previously wasn’t one in place.

It might seem minor, but without proper isolation, engineers working on live equipment are at serious risk of electrocution. With this isolator now installed, our team can:

✅ Safely isolate the system
🔒 Lock off the power
⚡ Be 100% certain the unit is dead before starting work

Health and safety isn’t just about compliance — it’s about protecting the people doing the job. And that always comes first. 👷‍♂️🛠️

A special shoutout goes to all our incredible employees who are dads—especially as we’re excitedly awaiting three new baby arrivals next month! What a time to celebrate fatherhood in all its forms. 👶🎉

Not your everyday call-out… but we love a challenge 🔥🍛

Called to site for a tandoor oven that wasn’t heating evenly.
A bit different from your usual catering kit — but the principles are the same!

🔍 Found the burner venturi heavily blocked with soot and debris
🔥 Poor flame + incomplete combustion = uneven heat

We gave it a full clean-out, reassembled and tested it thoroughly — and now it’s back to perfect high heat, ready to serve up those Indian delights! 👨‍🍳🇮🇳

(And yes… we did clean up the mess after 😉)

Gas safety checks — not just a box tick ✅🔥

Never a dull moment on an annual gas safety visit for one of our valued customers…

👨‍🔧 In Kitchen 1:
📍 Leaking gas hose on a salamander grill

👨‍🔧 In Kitchen 2 (the main kitchen):
📉 Found a 9mbar gas leak
🔎 Traced and reduced to 3mbar
💥 Eventually tracked to a leaking solenoid ni**le
🔧 Connection remade and system now tight and safe

All in a day’s work — and a perfect reminder of why annual gas checks are essential. These faults could have easily been missed and become serious risks if left undetected. Safety always comes first. 👊🏻

Nothing like a well-earned cuppa… when the boiler’s behaving! ☕🛠️

This hot water boiler was in for a full service and descale, including:
✅ Inspection of all terminals and connections
✅ Hoses and display screen checked
✅ Full operational test carried out

After giving it the TLC it needed, this unit is back in action and ready to keep the brews flowing. 💪

Coldroom not coping? Let’s talk drainage & control! ❄️🔧

This week we replaced a faulty controller and fitted a new drain fitting on a leaking evaporator drain in a walk-in cold room. ✅

Blocked or damaged drains can lead to a range of issues, including:
🧊 Ice build-up on evaporators
🚫 System inefficiencies
💧 Leaks inside coldrooms

With temperatures set to hit 25°C this week ☀️, it’s more important than ever to make sure your refrigeration equipment is running efficiently and ready to handle the heat! 💪

Burning smell from the dishwasher? Here’s what we found… 🔥🧼

Our team attended a call-out where a commercial dishwasher failed mid-cycle and gave off a strong burning smell. After dead testing the unit and making it safe, the wash pump was found to be extremely hot to touch — never a good sign. ⚠️

Further diagnostics revealed:
🔧 Capacitor reading outside of its normal working range
🧲 Wash pump windings showing OL (open loop)
🧽 Overall unit condition: very poor
📅 Age: 18 years old

With significant repair costs looming, we presented the customer with both options — repair or replacement. We never push sales, but we always provide honest advice based on what’s best for our clients long-term. 🤝

In this case, a new unit made more financial and operational sense. 💡

Clear guidance, no pressure — just solid engineering and sound advice. ✅

Another tripping issue traced and resolved!

This commercial dishwasher had been causing repeated electrical trips on site. After a full inspection, our engineer found a badly blown rinse boiler element—definitely past its prime!

We replaced the faulty element, carried out a full functional test, and had the machine back in action with minimal downtime. One very happy customer.

Regular maintenance not only prevents inconvenient breakdowns like this but also protects your equipment and your energy bills 💡

This fridge was seriously struggling — thick ice build-up was causing performance issues and risking food safety. Our engineer got to work, using hot water to safely and effectively defrost the unit.
