Be Intentional about Evangelism

By Bishop Charles Agyinasare

Mark 1:17 “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’”

Back in the day, when I lived in the fishing communities of Accra, I observed how the fisher folks fished.

One time, I learned that fishing was much more effective when the team prepared well. But in spite of their preparation, the fishermen had to actively catch the fish, because they wouldn’t just jump into their boats!

Evangelism is like fishing, and the lost are like fish: to catch fish we must intentionally prepare and go fishing. Since the fish are not going to just jump into our boats, we must go out there and bring them in. We must go out and share Christ with someone.

Here are three things to note in our quest to be intentional about our encounter with the lost:

1. Make an effort to cross social, cultural, and economic boundaries
Jesus crossed several boundaries in His quest to reach out to the lost. In the case of the Samaritan woman, He looked beyond gender, nationality, and other social classifications.
We must understand that, the gospel knows no boundaries; and for the gospel to reach the world, we must be intentional in crossing all boundaries with it.

2. Initiate the conversation
How are we going to share the gospel if we don’t initiate the conversation?
At the well, Jesus was the initiator of the conversation (John 4:1-26). There would be no opportunity for you to share the message with another person if you don’t start the conversation.

3. Know your message
Many Christians worry about evangelism because they fear they might say something wrong; but, like the fisher folks, we need to prepare by knowing our message.

Precious one, be a fisher of men by bringing others into the Kingdom through intentional evangelism.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I actively participate in winning the lost, bless my efforts with success, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Don’t Be Ashamed

By Bishop Charles Agyinasare

Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

In our side of the world today, to be single is a big deal, and to be married is to wear a crown of glory. Many people have crushed in their rush to put away their single status. Unmarried Christians should not feel ashamed of their status, and married Christians also should not make single ones feel left out and inferior. Marriage is God’s idea and in His time the unmarried shall be married too.

Here are three things to note about being single:

1. It’s a period for the discovery of purpose
We need to diligently
discover our purpose here on earth before we hop onto another person’s ship. We were
designed by our Creator to have a purpose and fulfill this purpose for His glory and honour, and we shall one day give account of the same. The Bible tells us in Romans 14:12 (NKJV), “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.”

2. It’s a period to choose a mate
Choosing a mate is successful when it is done carefully and prayerfully with matured counseling. And to do this, there is no shortcut. The Bible shows how Jacob was deceived by his uncle Laban because he did not do due diligence in choosing his mate (Genesis 29).

3. It’s a period to serve God
Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 4:12-13 (NKJV), “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” The Bible makes it clear that in this period of singleness we must flee from unlawful desires and rather serve God.

Precious one, if you are single be proud and unashamed of it and note that marriage is not a race or competition. In His time your marriage would come forth.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide me in my choosing a mate and give me grace to diligently serve You in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Acquire Knowledge

By Bishop Charles Agyinasare

Proverbs 18:15 (NKJV) “The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

There was once a rich businessman whose car was broken down. Despite several attempts, he was unable to fix the engine of the car. He called several engineers but no one was able to fix it. Finally, an old mechanic who visited him
inspected the engine and asked for a hammer. With the hammer he hit the engine a few times. Amazingly, the engine of the car came back to life.

The next day, the old mechanic sent his invoice for $1000. The businessman was shocked.
He said, “This was merely a $1 job. You just hit the engine with the hammer I gave you.

The old mechanic said “Let me give you a detailed invoice.”
Hitting
the engine with hammer: $1
Knowing where to hit the hammer: $999

Beloved, knowledge is very essential if you wish to be among the top 10 percent in your field of endeavor. Knowledge determines the quality of results you produce when you are faced with any situation.
Below are three reasons why knowledge acquisition is important:

1. Knowledge equips you for effectiveness.
Daniel said, “I understood by the books.” (Daniel 9:2) Great leaders of kingdoms give themselves over to diligent study and knowledge acquisition. The prophet Jeremiah wrote that Israel would go into captivity for seventy years. With that knowledge, Daniel was able to go before God and pray with understanding.

2. Perish without Knowledge
People are distorted for lack of knowledge. The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)
that, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

3. Knowledge increases your success rate
Your business is only as strong as the knowledge you have acquired about it .With knowledge we increase our rate of success. We are the like the old mechanic who repaired the car of the rich business man without struggle.

Precious one ,the difference between two qualified accountants is the level of their knowledge about their field. Same is true for politicians, teachers and any other profession. Beloved seek knowledge as you go on in life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, may my life be a testimony as You grant me the grace to seek knowledge like never before, in Jesus’ name,Amen.
