BOXXER is delighted to announce a landmark US broadcast partnership becoming the exclusive provider of boxing on . We’ll bring our events and stars to audiences around the USA 🇺🇸

It starts with at The O2, live on 🔥

UK promotional company BOXXER and NBC Sports have announced a media rights partnership that will bring BOXXER events to U.S. audiences.

The bouts will stream live and exclusively on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock with select events airing on NBC.

“We’re excited to bring boxing back to NBC Sports and, with the sport’s debut on Peacock, begin a new chapter in NBC Sports’ storied boxing history,” said Gary Quinn, Vice President, Programming & Owned Properties, NBC Sports.

Founded by promoter Ben Shalom, BOXXER airs their events live and exclusively on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland, after the UK sports broadcaster signed BOXXER as its exclusive British provider of boxing content in 2021.

The new partnership between BOXXER and NBC Sports will provide trans-Atlantic distribution of Sky Sports’ production.

The deal will see BOXXER fight nights added to NBC Sports’ portfolio of sport programming, which includes the Olympic Games, Premier League, Sunday Night Football, Big Ten Football and Basketball, Notre Dame Football, NASCAR, golf and more.

The ultimate goal will be to bring BOXXER events to the United States.

The action begins on Saturday, October 21 live from The O2 in London when #1 and #2 world ranked light heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez put a decade long friendship aside to battle for bragging rights and a shot at the WBA World Title live on Peacock.

Shalom said: “We’re delighted to announce this landmark partnership with NBC Sports, in what is a major moment for the company, allowing audiences across the USA to watch our stars in action throughout the year. Lamptey returns on Disrupt Promotions, faces pumicpic.

WBO Youth Super featherweight and WBC Youth Silver world champion Alfred Lamptey will return in a 10-rounder contest in Dubai, Saturday 22nd July 2023 on Disrupt Promotions fight night.

The hard puncher, Lamptey will clash with Richard Pumicpic just 3 months after dispatching his Namibian opponent on the undercard of John Laryea and Solomon Martey main event on Bronx Boxing Promotions night.

Speaking to Boxzonetv Alfread Lamptey says he is optimistic of making Ghana proud and improving in record (12-0, 8 KOs) whilst he inches closer to becoming a world champion.

Sherif Quaye faces Bright Ayala in a WBO lightweight defence.

WBO Africa Lightweight champion Sherif Quaye will clash with Bright Ayala on Saturday July 8, 2023 at the Golden Beach Resort, Accra in the main event of Swavy Blu Promotions.

Quaye 28, (22-3-1, 14KOs) mounted a spirited defence for the WBO lightweight strap with Otto Joseph October 2022 after stopping Emmanuel Amos to win the belt.

Quaye now ranked 15 by the WBO will face a tough Ghanaian opponent Bright Ayala 25, (16-1-1, 11KOs) this weekend at the Golden Beach Resort.

Future of Ghana Boxing resides in juvenile boxing development - Mustapha Nettey
The Treasurer of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) Mr. Mustapha Nettey has indicated that the future of Ghana Boxing rests solely in the development and promotion of juvenile and amateur boxing.
Mr. Nettey said at the launch of the BESESAKA Boxucation Camp 2023, the third edition in the series of training for the 16 Besesaka scholarship beneficiaries and 60 other participants drawn from all the gyms in Accra.
The event was attended by the Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation Mr. Dauda Fuseni, the former President of the Federation Mr. George Lamptey, the head coach of the National team Coach Ofori Asare and Mr. Teiko Tagoe, Executive Director of GAMADA.
According to Mr. Mustapha Nettey, boxing like many other sports require gradual tutelage, systematic and scientific development of the athlete to adapt the technical rudiment of the sport.
"Ghana can maintain or even do better in the sports of boxing if we pay an unfettered attention to juvenile and youth boxing development" he said.
Ghana's last Olympic medal before Samuel Takyi won the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic games was some 39 years ago which only goes core of the development of boxing at the juvenile and youth levels.
"The future of boxing in Ghana rest solely on developing amateur boxing and that is the only way we can win medals at Olympic games, Commonwealth games and then to world titles. I commend Mr. James C. Nortey for the Besesaka initiative". Mr. Nettey added.
The Besesaka Boxucation Camp 2023 start on Sunday 18th July at the sacred heart school. The theme for this year's career development and skill training is "nurturing the transformational boxer, the role of the elderly".
