Ariwa Back To Africa Festival Ariwa International Music Festival Ariwa Sounds are proud to present The Back to Africa Festival in January 2012.

This festival is part of the celebration of Ariwa Sounds 30 year anniversary in business. The festival site is in the south of the country, in the sea side resort of Batukunku, Gambia. The festival will be spread over the week starting January the 20th until January the 27th. Festival goers will be entertained with live performances from a variety of artists from the label. We also plan on having

workshops & seminars in the morning before performances. There will also be a variety of performances from local and international artists.

Goodmorning, Goodnight!! I would like to thank everyone who contributed in making Backtoafrica 2 a great success! From the people on location in the Gambia, The ministry of Culture and Arts, Mr Joff, The Gambia tourist board, The Alkala, the village chief and the Gambian festival workers..Mohammed, Musa,and Bekkai. The musical advice and support from Earl 16, Asher Selector and his team out of Switzerland, D**o, Zakeya, Redhead, Mr Chris Brown, Open the Gate, Fireman, Heartbreaker, Karl Melody and the Trixters, Arianne, Uncle Dennis Bovell, Joe Ariwa, Miss Fritty, Doctor Oulagander, Gipsy, Fandetinin Nunto Kaffoh, Sugar Dread, Winston Makenhoff, Kingstep Soundsystem,General Levy, and Jah Revelation Soundsystem. Thanks to the family contribution, Cara, Zaida,Querida, Dionne,Kamal, Joe,Nathalie, Holly, Sharon, Omari, Mauritzio, Doctor Momadoo...and many more!! I personally had a great time, and time to relax. The vibes were really great! The people of Batakunku are requesting that we make it a 5 day festival next year enshalla!! I also thank all that I argued with in the past 12 months, shouted at, cursed, pushed or threatened with the standard Ariwa aggression. I hope you understand my frustrations, and I hope that like me, you can say..it's worth it!!!
