🌿In the imagination of many, when they think of tropical decor, they often picture a very saturated concept—vibrant colors full of flowers and elements. But for couples who truly connect with tropical vibes, there is a way to create a wedding design that remains elegant, minimal, and tropical.
The key, in my opinion, lies in the textures and the balance of colors. To me, tropical means green, not colorful. For example, in Adam and Jess’s wedding, we used various types of green plants—monsteras, ferns, banana leaves, orchids, and even green fruits like bananas and the outer skin of a papaya.
The color of the flowers and candles adds a pop of color and focus. Another element that really complements the tropical aesthetic is something rustic and simple, like the design of the chairs, the candle bases, the wicker carpets, or the exterior of a pineapple.

If you are a future bride planning your wedding and making your dream mood board, you may be forgetting to consider one important factor: the time of day your reception will take place.
Look at this example! The reception started at night in a closed venue, so we didn’t have any natural light. Keeping this in mind helped us design a concept that would create a significant impact when guests arrived and saw it for the first time.
I loved decorating this wedding in a classic, elegant, and modern style, mostly white and full of candles.
The roof full of lights created a magical ambiance that complemented the minimal decor concept.

Designing decor and flower arrangements for weddings at Atitlan Lake requires a different focus than for venues in ruins. Places such as Santa Clara or Capuchinas are like a blank canvas—mostly the same color, rustic, and very textured.
At the lake, we encounter a different range of colors: the blue of the water, the green of the grass and surrounding plants, and the sky that changes its color throughout the day.
Colorful flowers are always a great option to complement the natural scenery. One of my biggest challenges when working in a place surrounded by nature is incorporating local elements and native flowers and greenery.

Several months ago, they were closed with cupulas to protect this UNESCO-protected heritage site. Due to Guatemala’s long rainy season, the humidity and water were starting to damage the floors and crypts.
