“Hi, my name is Carol Ezzeddine, and I am a third year Computer Science with Data Science student at UCD. I am currently completing my placement at KPMG in theTax department. From day one, I have received support from my manager and buddy, helping me build confidence and set a clear development plan for my career growth. What stands out the most to me at KPMG is the people. I really admire the diversity within my team; between the finance and technical sides as well as the range of academic backgrounds, I have been gaining exposure to various knowledge and perspectives that I would not encounter through my degree alone. I get to learn so much from this unique blend across industries like finance and life sciences. My experience at KPMG has also been full of memorable social experiences. I have gotten the chance to expand my network and get to know other interns and UCD alumni in various departments at KPMG. I regularly connect with them over lunch and outside work. Additionally, I frequently attend social events hosted by communities and societies. My personal favourite so far is Placement Sports Day, where we got to compete in teams against one another and bond outside the office. I look forward to attending many more events, such as the “Around the World” cultural party or the placement boat party. I cannot begin to put into words how lucky I am to grow and develop with so much support by my side. I never thought I would wake up on a Monday and feel so excited to walk into an office. Truly, thank you, KPMG, for granting me the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“Hi, I’m Elena. Since September, I have had the privilege of completing a 9-month placement with KPMG in the Tax department. During my time at KPMG, I’ve worked on a range of complex projects with a particular focus on the aviation industry, gaining valuable experience. This has involved assisting in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, conducting benchmarking analyses, and helping clients comply with complex international tax regulations. I’ve gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of Transfer Pricing and the challenges and strategies within the sector. Being involved in strategic advisory work for global companies has further deepened my passion for international tax and advisory. This experience has significantly enhanced my technical skills and broadened my understanding of the complexities within the transfer pricing landscape. I have learned not only how to manage technical tasks but also how to communicate effectively with clients, collaborate within a team, and present findings in a clear and professional manner. What stands out most from my experience is the collaborative environment at KPMG, where I’ve had the privilege of working alongside talented professionals who have supported my growth both professionally and personally. KPMG’s inclusive culture and reputation for excellence made it an ideal choice for me. I’m excited about the knowledge I’ve gained so far and look forward to continuing this journey, furthering my professional development in this dynamic field. If you’re interested in Deal Advisory, I encourage you to explore KPMG’s Work Placement opportunities. It’s a fantastic way to gain hands-on experience in a global firm known for its commitment to innovation and professional growth.”

“Hi, I’m Anastasiia. As a part of my placement, I’ve joined the Connected Tech team in Management Consulting back in March, and even though it’s only been a short time, it’s already been such a journey. From the beginning, I was assigned to a project, focused on IT/OT advisory. The project itself hasn’t officially kicked off yet, but the biggest shout-out goes to my performance manager Devan – who I reached out after completing my mandatory online learnings, at the start of my internship. He was so welcoming to all my questions, and ever since, he’s been doing everything to get me involved, give me new tasks, share his experience, and make sure I’m learning and growing. Thanks to him, I’ve already attended several client meetings, assisted with different projects, met so many professionals and learned so much just by observing how our experienced team withing the KPMG works. It’s been an inspiring real-world learning experience that I honestly couldn’t have imagined getting this early on. I’ve also felt incredibly supported thanks to both my performance manager Gavin and my work buddy James. From the very beginning, they were the first ones to help me settle in. My Manager is always checking in with me, not just about my workflow but also how I’m doing in general, he’s been the biggest support. We have weekly catch-up calls, he makes sure I’m not overwhelmed and keeps me updated on events or opportunities available. James has been amazing from day one. He shared his own journey with me, what he’s working on now, and gave me a proper tour around so I don’t feel lost and lonely. He’s always the first one to reach out when I might need help, especially with technical stuff or quick questions. It’s just so nice knowing I have someone I can turn to without overthinking, and it makes such a difference when you’re starting something new. “Hi, my name is Lucy, and I am an intern in Risk Consulting at KPMG. I started my work placement in September as part of my BComm degree at UCD. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far here at KPMG. One of the highlights of my internship so far, has been the opportunity to network and build relationships with my manager, fellow interns, and other colleagues. There is a great sense of community in KPMG and I have been fortunate to experience this first-hand. Attending the intern events organised by the Konnect Committee have been a great opportunity to connect with my colleagues on a personal level, in a less formal setting than the office. These events have created a sense of belonging and have made me feel more integrated into the team. Getting to know my manager and my buddy has been especially beneficial as they offer advice as established employees in KPMG. Through our interactions, I have gotten a clearer understanding of the expectations and standards at KPMG. Both my manager and my buddy have been approachable and supportive further demonstrating the strong company culture at KPMG. They have been extremely helpful in easing any uncertainty by answering any questions I have and providing guidance on any questions I had. Another stand out moment so far as part of my placement has been volunteering at a Fighting Words workshop as part of KPMG’s Corporate Citizenship. This was such a heart warming morning spent with 5th class children teaching them to be creative. We assisted the children in writing their own story and took groups of 3 children to encourage and prompt creativity. KPMG get involved hugely with the community and local schools to give back in which I was delighted to be part of.”

My name is Aishling Isiadinso and I am a CHEC audit intern at KPMG. I am enjoying the experience because since the first day I came into KPMG I have been extremely welcomed. The continuous mentorship and guidance I have received from my colleagues has been invaluable in helping me grow professionally. On the first day when I joined the firm I was met by my buddy at the reception and brought upstairs to my floor. I found having a buddy very valuable because it helped me to settle into life at KPMG and felt like I already had a friend from the beginning. My buddy would take me for coffee breaks and show me around the building which made me feel comfortable to ask any questions I had, and to address any concerns I was facing. During my time at KPMG, I have gained hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life scenarios. I have had the opportunity to get involved in many things both inside the office and outside. Some of the things I have gotten involved in inside the office are diverse engagements where I get to work with different clients ranging from different sectors. From working on these engagements, I have learnt the importance of producing quality audit work for clients etc. One of my highlights of the internship was for one of the engagements, I was given the opportunity to be on site in Chicago for two weeks. I really enjoyed this experience because I got to attend in person meetings with the client alongside my colleagues, assist them in completing the various audit tests, conducting stock counts and analysing financial information. I also got to enjoy different activities at the weekend such as basketball games and shopping which helped me bond and form deeper relationships with my teammates.”
