Back Story: I was introduced to Electronic music at an early age, its always been in my house as my dad was a Dj and is my biggest influence. I never enjoyed normal music, I always felt it was never enough. There were many nights out I didn't enjoy, Iโd only begin to get into it at the end when the Dj would play 90โs dance anthems and all the generic club classics you get at your generic club night.
My journey really started for me when I first attended Hangar a few years back, I didn't know a club like it existed, it really surprised me that I could go to a club and hear the music I knew and loved. I got the opportunity to hear this music on a proper sound system, which was a major change compared to my apple earphones and extremely bad, bit rate YouTube videos.
From then on I went to Hangar & similar venues religiously. I began to get more invested in the music and dance culture, being introduced to new songs Iโd never heard before and ones I knew off by heart.
After a while I knew I wanted to go further, it wasn't enough for me to just go dancing anymore. I would compare & contrast how Djs would play, analysing & thinking how Iโd of played it or how I would have matched each track.
I soon bit the bullet and actually learned to play properly. After some brief vinyl sessions with my dad over the previous years and not practicing consistently. I knew if I put my head down and worked hard, soon I could have it all my way and play the music I wanted to hear with the songs I enjoyed most through mixing.
So after begging my dad to show me the ropes again, after many years since he last showed me, he finally agreed. He walked through everything with me on his vinyl turntables, which for a beginner isnโt ideal, but I got the gist after some months. I then soon bought my first controller, made a few mixes sent them off to promoters, ever since has played a vast amount of gigs ever since.
