The Poets House Poetry Series

The Poets House Poetry Series A monthly series of poetry reading and workshops at the Poets' House, Newbridge, Dowra, Co. Leitrim. The Poets House offered the first creative writing M.A.

Founded by Janice Fitzpatrick Simmons, and her late husband James Simmons in 1990. on the Island of Ireland. The Poets' House moved from Portmuck, Co Antrim to Falcarragh, county Donegal in 1997 where it continued to offer a M.A. in Creative Writing validated by Lancaster University. The Poets' House also facilitated summer poetry conferences inviting resident and guest poets to deliver lectures,

workshops and readings. Poets who offered these courses included; Seamus Heaney, Carol Ann Duffy, Medbh McGuckian, Paul Durcan, Billy Collins and Theo Dorgan. In 2016, the Poets' House Poetry Series was revived in its new home in county Leitrim.
