Playback for the kids in Marmullane Park was followed by Playback for grown-ups in Fr. O'Flynn Park. Such a laugh!!! Throwing wellies and horseshoes is a whole lot harder than it looks π Huge thanks to all the helpers and to the beautiful dancers from the always-wonderful Attridge Academy of Irish Dance ππ₯³π

Culture Night Passage West was AMAZING πππ Thank you to all the extraordinary singers, dancers, musicians, chefs and artists who made our town come alive with their talent. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who helped especially with organising the games. What a laugh they were π
Thank you to the weather π What more can we say!!! Especial thanks to all of you who came to share any or all of the celebration. We hope you had as good a time as we did π And big thanks to Cork County Council for choosing Passage West to be one of the Culture Night Cork County venues, for their funding support and for the magnificent organisational backup provided by Crayon Creative βΊοΈ
There'll be lots of photos over the coming few days but just for now, here's something really special that happened quite spontaneously. GlΓΊin Nua playing on the Centre Block and the Attridge Academy of Irish Dance in Fr. O'Flynn Park blended to become this extraordinarily powerful expression of Irish music and dance πππ

What an AMAZING #CultureNight we had here in Passage West π₯³π₯³π₯³
HUGE thanks to so many for making this party such a massive success ....
To those who made PlayBack possible, including the volunteers from Passage Soccer Club, Passage West Youth Club, Passage West Youth Cafe, Passage Baptist Church and residents from Ardmore Estate. To TG4 for coming to Passage West and giving PlayBack such great publicity. And to Lucy and Andrew for representing Passage West so ably as Gaeilge π
To Dee O'Regan who appears to be the most popular facepainter in the whole of Munster! And the most tenacious: she turned out masterpiece after masterpiece in the face of rainshowers, breeze and endless queues π
To the wonderful Gill Room Painters and to the talented students from St. Peter's Community School for sharing their art. And to the teachers of 2nd class Star Of The Sea for enabling their younger students to enjoy the art trail π
To Francis, John and Rob for making the stage in Fr. O'Flynn Park and to Niamh Marie and her wonderful dancers from the Attridge Academy of Irish Dance who never ever fail to astound. The evening sun shining on the river behind them was a deservedly stunning backdrop π
To Passage West library who hosted over 40 for the storytelling session from the ever-magical Maria Gillen of Story Seeds. The library was quite the hub yesterday. Big and small gathered around in the car park outside with African Drumming Ireland. What a hoot! π
To those who made our market happen. To Passage West Creates Food for the yummy Steampackets, to Monika for the divine cakes and bread, to Sarah from Filleadh Γ³n bPlaisteach and to Ethel, Eadaoin and Carlotta for running the old-fashioned sweet stall π
To Passage Point for arriving on the Centre Block with pizza! How thoughtful was that π
To Brendans Butchers, Passage West Pharmacy, Passage West Post Office and Akkaya Barbers for enabling our art trail and for
The pace is massive down here in the town π
The sun is sparkling, market stalls are being set up, the Centre Block canopy is being fixed (thank you Acme Blinds!), the stage is being hammered together and we've just had 2nd class from Star Of The Sea Primary School visit the exhibition of extraordinarily talented art from St. Peter's Community School now open in Passage West Creates ππ₯° Isn't it stunning? Thanks to all the amazing students and their teachers for being part of this magical day ππ

Another biggie that will be a WHOLE lot of fun π
African Drumming Ireland will be in Fr. O'Flynn Park on Friday afternoon to teach us how to play the African drums. Patrick Naughton, our facilitator, has spent a great deal of time in Africa learning how to master these class instruments. We mightn't achieve quite his degree of expertise on Culture Night but knowing us here in #PassageWest, we'll sure give it our best shot π
Patrick will host two workshops, one from 4-5pm and a second from 5-6pm. Spaces are limited so please email [email protected] so we can hold one for you. And yes, if you and a friend want to book a session together, that's no problem. Just email both names! Kids, teens and adults of all ages all welcome π

This week they're dancing at the Qala International Folk Festival in #Malta π This coming Friday at 6pm, they'll be dancing in Fr. O'Flynn Park in their native #PassageWest π₯°
The Attridge Academy of Irish Dance is the longest established Irish dance group in Cork. We're so proud that this group who showcases the best of Irish dance and culture all over the world calls our lovely harbourside town their home. From the youngest to the oldest dancer, they're a WOW every time they perform. Not to be missed πππ
