When I got married I had no idea how much to budget for the flowers or even what I wanted - luckily I went to a great florist who asked a few questions, showed me some samples, worked with me on the budget and delivered beautiful arrangements for our big day.

Flowers can be expensive but they are so beautiful, and add a lovely touch to your day.

I'll be making Spring wreaths again this year, starting off with beautiful Irish grown flowering heather with a mix of foliage. ❤️

After a lovely long break I'm back! I've been busy getting ready for cut flower and vegetable gardening - ordering seeds, bulbs, plants, compost, and planning out new growing beds😀

30/12/2021

If you are taking down your fresh foliage door wreath or Christmas tree these can be (carefully) chopped into smaller pieces and sprinkled around the garden or put into the compost bin. Blueberries and strawberries love a mulch of the needles! 🍓🫐

For the wreaths: artificial decorations can be unhooked from the wreath and reused next year. Pine cones, cinnamon sticks, fruit slices and dried chillies can be unwired and added to the food / compost bin.

**update - all gone to lovely new homes**

I have a few spare wreath bases that I am happy to give away for free if anyone knows someone who needs a wee lift today, or who maybe couldn't afford a fresh wreath this year. Irish foliage and I can add on a bow for a little colour.

DM me please.

If your wreath or door swag is protected from the elements remember to take it down and give it a watering with the hose or a bucket of water, and let it dry off a bit before rehanging. If it's tied on with ribbon, you can use a mister every few days.

This keeps it looking fresh right through the weeks before, during and after Christmas!

When ordering from the same florist, always good to check the size your neighbour has ordered so you can match for maximum impact on the street! 💕

Great fun at the online Christmas wreath making class last night.

My lovely students made stunning wreaths, and mastered all of the techniques we covered - even bows in difficult material and fiddly cinnamon sticks - all with just laptop cameras so they could see my demonstration and I could see how they were doing!

Great to see family members getting involved to lend a hand and even do some modelling too!

Anyone in Ireland who has a wreath or door swag up outside - you might want to take down tonight until Storm Barra passes.

I'm off out to secure the garden furniture, and hoping the chicken run is heavy enough to stay put!
