BOUQUETS at BLOOM, it was a wonderful two days that I spent at the stand 16 in the nursery village at .

We got to meet & chat to people where we promoted Irish grown flowers & got to chat all things flowery. 🌸🌿

Today, Monday is the final day of the show where there are still lots of beautiful fresh & dried flowers for purchase.

HELLO!

I'm time travelling back to September 2023 with these photographs.
Let me reminisce about a wonderful workshop that I attended back then.

The photographs were taken by the lovely Hayley .stuartweddings at a two day event held at . The workshop was organised by the brilliant team of Carmel & Lennie, who are fellow members of the .They invited Anna Potter from to teach us how to create a handtie bouquet and a bowl arrangement suitable for a tablescape, for example.
During our time in Horetown House, we had lots of flowery chats , ate delicious food, stayed overnight in a shepards hut, and we even took part in a sunrise yoga class. This was a personal favourite moment for me.

I'll create a reel to share what happened at the workshop, but for now, I want to share the face behind , me, Linda.

Just to note, all the flowers in the vase are grown in my flower field. 🌸🌱

🎉 POP of COLOUR to brighten up this dull grey day ! ✨️
This bouquet is 100% Irish seasonal flowers & they are all grown here .

The poppies have been grown from seed I saved here from the flower field. 🌼

I'm taking part in a year-long seed saving course & one of the crops that I'll be saving seeds from is my beloved Icelandic poppy. I am looking forward to the indepth learnings of the seed world.

Another crop that I'll be saving seeds from is Flax. There is a tiny bit included in this bouquet also. I have a family history of flax growers & maybe this will be a good time to learn more about the Caldwell flax growers. ✨️

PEEK-A-BOO.. Do you ever feel like you're being watched?

Despite the wet weather, I will have a small selection of flowers this weekend, if you want them for your own home or maybe if you are visiting this weekend. A beautiful bunch of Spring cheer would be welcome anywhere.

It's a slow start to the cut flower season, but I do have a few beautiful Spring flowers like Icelandic poppies & stocks & anemones & Narcissus coming along nicely in the flower field.

UPDATE from the flower field here :

It's a little too early in the cut flower season for me to have a crop for Mother's Day. They are, however, coming along nicely & will be available shortly. I was hoping that I'd have a few more flowers, but Mother Nature has a different plan.

My own mum was the lucky recipient of the first flush of anemones yesterday.. I had to harvest them as they were ready & I was afraid they'd be gone past their best by Sunday. 💗💜

For all of you, without the access to having a flower farmer daughter, I have gift vouchers available, which can be used during the growing season & I also have a few dried flower wreaths available.

DRIED FLOWER SEASON is still in place here .

There are no fresh flowers available just yet. I have gift vouchers & dried flower wreaths available, however. You can message me or WhatsApp me for further details.

The flower crops are coming along nicely, despite all the bad weather. 🌸

This week, I am emptying the glasshouse & planting up the tunnel with Ranunculus and anemone plants and other hardy annuals like Love in a Mist & I'm hoping that I will have room for my Sweetpeas.

Then I'll give the glasshouse a good clean & start my seed sowing in ernest.

SNOWDROPS, there is a little story behind these dainty little flowers.

I love spotting them each year as it really signals the start of a new growing season for me.

When I was pregnant with my son I planted bulbs in our garden so they'd pop up when he was born, in January, so when they appear it always reminds me of those first time mum days. And each following year, they always appear & I tell him the same story of being out in the garden trying to plant the bulbs with my little bump in the way!

These particular snowdrops in the photo were moved " in the green" from my parents' in-laws' garden . They had a shaky start last year due to a new pup in the household, but I'm delighted that they are thriving this year.

I'd love it if my children would take some in the future & move a clump into their future homes garden.

TIME to move my Christmas wreath to the shed door or, do I leave it for a little while longer?

Also, I need to get the ladder out of the shed to take the last of the Christmas tree decorations...

Is anyone else not quite ready to get rid Christmas, or is it just me?

Hopefully, all of my seedlings are going to be OK during this cold snap. They are all covered with horticultural fleece, so all going well, they'll make beautiful bouquets in 2024. 🌱🌸

FIREWORK..nature's firework.
This lichen blew down last night from an Ash tree, I think. It's beautiful.
I don't know anything about them, I'd love to know more if anyone wants to share their knowledge!

DRIED FLOWER WREATHS are a lovely reminder of the growing season just gone. There are flowers like Ranunculus from the Spring to Dahlias from the Autumn and everything in between incorporated in this particular wreath.

CHRISTMAS WREATHS done in a natural style. No glitter is needed. Letting mother nature do her thing.

Wreaths are made using foliage from the flower field & dried flowers that grew in the flower field.

I got my foliage from Martinstown Christmas Tree Farm again this year. They have absolutely beautiful Christmas trees there. I'm looking forward to getting mine this weekend.

Also, a big shout out to my parents for allowing me to forage from their garden. It's an annual event since I went to college in the Botanic Gardens & started making wreaths! 💫🧑‍🎄🎅🎄

I've managed to dry & store plenty this year. I've discovered drying & storage has to be in my house. My sheds are just too damp & cold! The house is full of boxes of dried flowers. 🌸🌿

CHRISTMAS WREATHS💫 It's that time of year again when our doors are once again adorned with a little bit of nature.

I am now taking orders for door wreaths, so if you'd like one, please send me a WhatsApp or give me a ring 087 6272670, if you have any queries.

As usual, I'll be creating your wreath with flowers & seed heads that I have collected throughout the year. I use only Irish grown foliage & berries that i can forage from the wild hedges in the flower field.

Each wreath is unique & made in a wild garden style & finished with a velvet ribbon.

The wreaths will last beyond the festive season and fade with time. I always move mine to the garden shed where I can watch little birds feast on the seed heads well into the new year.

DRIED FLOWER wreaths are now available to order.

All the flowers are grown & dried here without the use of any harmful chemicals.
Any flowers that I didn't sell this year, I cut & dried, so no flower went to waste here. I loved experimenting with non typical flowers to dry. Some were a disaster & some were a lovely surprise!

These wreaths are intended for indoor use & will provide a bit of colour over the next few months when Irish flowers aren't available.

Wreath bases are handmade by Kay . They are fabulous! 😍

I'm hoping this will make a lovely cut flower!💖 So pretty. If it doesn't, it will make a lovely flower in my garden!

I purchased a few perennials yesterday at the rare & unusual plant fair at Borris House. It was a lovely day out & the house tour was so interesting.

I'm investing in perennials , as I'm hoping they will reduce my workload and be more sustainable as I won't have to grow them from seed every year. I'll obviously still have a mixture of annuals & perennials, but it's difficult being so reliant on annuals with ever changing weather conditions. Perennials have the reliability that I seek as a flower grower. My heart is in perennial growing. It's where my horticultural career started!

Look out over the next few years for this pretty little face in bouquets ! I'm hoping she likes the climate & growing conditions in the flower field. 🌿🌸

HEDGEROW FLOWERS in the flower field. We allow them to grow at the edges of the field to help with the health of the cut flowers that we grow. They attract wildlife & insects, which in turn helps with the overall health of the flower field.

I took the photograph during the week & at the time, I was reminded of lovely childhood memories. We used to eat the little peas from the vetch while walking home from school. Cleavers or sticky backs were always great fun , sticking the seeds to each other. I don't know why but it was great craic !

Does anyone else love wildflowers & the memories they evoke?

SUBSCRIPTIONS
A new service that is available from the flower farm this year. 💫
Icelandic poppies, Narcissus, and Tulips will start the season off.

You will get to watch the subtle changes of the season & new beautiful flowers will be introduced to your bouquet as time progresses.

The cost is €100 for 4 x €25 bouquets. You can choose whether you receive your bouquet weekly or fortnightly.
They can be collected here from the Honesty stand or local delivery only at an extra cost.

Gift vouchers are also available for purchase & you can spend them how you please. You can use them to purchase Honesty box bunches or a gift bouquet.

Flowers such as a lovely vibrant orange Carthamus and a new one for me, Lonas, which will hold its beautiful vibrant yellow to cheer us up throughout the long winter months & beyond. 💛 🧡
