A million thanks to Ruth O’Connor who gave us lovely mentions & compliments in The Journal this week alongside tablescaling superstars Helle Moyna, Tara O’Connor, Gracie Cahill.

We had a blast that evening in Nordic Elements & hopefully showed how simply you can make your hall, home & table sing with just a single considered bunch.

A big shout out to our Maya who made the series of mixed posy table centers along the table so beautifully styled by Helle with the setting of dreams. These posies are in big demand so please do pre-order sooner if you can.

Well, we have jumped in with both feet & are firmly in our festive flower tunnel. What joy we have had in making so many events sing so recently but now it’s your turn so that we can make sure there is only magic when you think of winter flowers at home.

And as a break from all the twinkling lights, let us regale you with a rockin’ set of festive flower stories. From a Winter Flower Week in London, an Olga Prinku lesson on how to make a tulle embroidered wreath, we marvel at crocheted leaf sculptures & a giant garland of 30,000 blooms, we learn all about Irish edible flowers before listening to Lisa Hannigan’s latest Christmas song & taking on board lessons from Good Earth 2030.

We loved the flowers Eunji made to celebrate Christmas with Boodles in Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud last week.

Sweet fragrant O’Hara roses & ranunculae dressed winter greens with pops of skimmia, sanguisorba & hypericum in cool chalice vessels to give space on the tables.

We hope that all the guests had a gorgeous evening & a million thanks to Boodles our lovely clients for bringing our blooms along. X

Today on the first day of Advent where we all light the first candles of December, we are opening our Christmas orders to you all. You know we love a pre-order so do order sooner so we can make sure we can make all you need to have.

We had the best evening in Nordic Elements this week where we showed & told all about our favourite longlasting bunch for everyone to enjoy this 12th month. The idea behind this display to deck your hall, was to combine winter foliages & textures that you could truss easily together in early December before festivities & commitments commence. And so, we thought that all of you here, would also like to know how to create such Christmas joy in a vase - we even filmed a ‘show and tell’ especially.

And on this December First, our online orders are now live HERE - It’s how we can ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ up your Santa time & delete the word ‘stress’ from your winter diary!

Each of our industry friends have given authentic & incisive answers to my questions - not only was I onto James of Irish Green Guys & Mark in Yes Flowers, Maria of Bell Meadow Flowers, Amelia of Amelia’s Flowers & Sylvia of Bella Botanica during their crazy pre-Christmas madness, but each person generously gave their time to reply with brilliant ideas, suggestions & constructive advice for anyone starting their flower growing/making/learning journey.

OUR THURSDAY DROP

November marks the month where we decant our Christmas elf selves to the decadent home of Danish Christmas in Dublin, yes our Nordic Elements evening is back on the 27th. Tickets can be booked through the lovely folk there.

Today’s drop features David Stark & Studio Lilo creating fruit & vegetables as designed floral work, a Garden Manifesto brought to us by Olivia Laing & Richard Porter & a virtual trip to Paris to see a science fiction inspired flora & plant photography exhibition in the Marais. After many of you were in touch about foraging & flowerdrying, I thought it pertinent to put you in touch with Courtney of Hips & Haws in Wicklow to find out more about foraging in forests. And then you can bask in the glow of Botanical Tales teaching her flower drying craft from golden meadows. Of course, there is music & glimmers to flower up your first week of this second last month of this year & indeed brighten up a week we didn’t expect would happen too.

On this Samhain Thursday so full of witchcraft and magic, pumpkins & púcas, more treats than tricks, we say Happy Hallowe’en. Today, October 31st, marks the high point of the Celtic year where the old one ends and the new one begins…I found myself drawn to floral stories full of creative hope and renewal. Perhaps the thin veil with the otherworld of faeries and spirits is permitting them to cross back here to guide us in how we need to work with our own natures and flowers now for futures ahead.

I have been following Catherine Cleary’s story since she founded Pocket Forests and thought you would like to know more about the documentary following her Roscommon journey in ‘The Forest Midwife’ . Rich Gilligan’s capture of our ancient Samhain traditions in Ireland bring them to life again in black & white for Tourism Irleand. Britt Willoughby stops me in tracks perusing garden and flower tomes, it was great to find out about her beautiful tulip exhibition & book. Just a thought is given to the future of floral backdrops with a new idea of sculpting fabric as flowers for a dramatic day of love and then Sean Breithaupt’s amazing photography project ‘Prosperous’ bring a fusion of creativity and hope.
