Calling on media not to give new sponsor of the venue any free advertising The theatre is to be rebranded as the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from March 2012.
The Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin has secured sponsorship for the venue from Bord Gáis. Whilst understanding fully that the venue needs corporate sponsorship, it would be a pity if the venue was (over time) to eventually lose it's name like Lansdowne Road did when it took on sponsorship. Newspapers, TV and Radio don't HAVE to refer to it by this new sponsors name and I hope they don't. I certainly won't.
