Thank you to everyone who attended our final community consultation event on November 10th!
As we come to the end of our Creative Places Ballaghaderreen Research & Development Phase, we wanted an opportunity to reflect with the community on the conversations and activities over the past year and consider what is next for Ballaghaderreen as a Creative Place.
We remembered the many events, workshops and people we met through a photograph exhibition.
@conoroconnellart and @indigo_poodle also kindly shared their 3ofArts visual painted and photograph responses. We also shared a limited edition, newly printed booklet from the 3ofarts collaborative artist commission. It showcased the artworks themselves and the artists reflection of the process.
Many thanks to Dani Gill and Conor Burke who facilitated the arts activities focused on identity, place and wishes for Ballagh.
Anna then delivered a short mindful exercise to bring our creative intentions onwards. 🍃
Ending the day on a roundtable chat with the whole group considering the programme and wider needs, hopes and ideas for the area.

October Artist Meet
Regular and new faces joined us for the Artist Meet at the Shambles this morning.
🍃 Thanks firstly to Conor O'Connell Art for sharing with us his practice, looking back at older paintings and inspirations, and onto his work now which combines his many interests collecting, natural world, animals and birds, taxidermy and older processes such as bronze-making.
🎥 Also to Christine Braithwaite who joined online to share her experiences of the 2nd year and first in person event of Roscommon International Film Festival. She shared what she learned and films that were selected including the Roscommon and Surrounds section

We spoke about the arts community and creativity in Ballagh, what could be needed for artists, reflected on the year with Creative Places Ballaghaderreen, and considered what has been gained and needs to change with the Artist Network.

Thank you to all who attended, shared and showed interest in 'This archive is a powerhouse', hosted and facilitated by Nollaig Molloy on Saturday 10th of August during Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival. This event enabled an informative and generative discussion on history, community and place.
Thanks to Ballaghaderreen Town Team for event support, Phyllis, Simon and Marty on Cathedral Street and to St. Nathy's College to access the building.
We are looking forward to seeing how these conversations develop further during Nollaig's research and development as part of Creative Places Ballaghaderreen.
