Waving goodbye to a fabulous 2023 in the best way possible - a New Years Eve wedding at the College Green Hotel, formerly The Westin, in Dublin City centre.
Is it even a if you haven’t got a singalong with maracas?!
Today’s celebration was so much fun - from the moment the walked up the aisle to her beaming .
Everyone was smiling and laughing as she made a spectacular entrance.
We had singalongs.
We had personalised readings, with inspiration from Lord of the Rings.
We had standalone songs, impromptu dances, and maracas.!
It was SO much fun!
Blue skies and winter light made for fabulous photo opportunities for Egle of White Cat Studio and videography was by Fabriano.
The amazing Doug Sheridan Singer knocked it out of the park with the
The Banking Hall at The College Green Hotel Dublin, is stunning - a Georgian masterpiece, and the team here are so helpful and friendly.

Seeing out the old year with a winter wedding at Horetown House.
Winter light shone low as Stephen & Sue said I do in front of friends and family from around the globe.
The love and happiness in the room for these two was a joy to behold.
Ceremony music added to the atmosphere with Cyril Murphy - Dial M for Music - on piano and Siobhan Lynch on cello.
Beautiful floral arrangements came from Slaney Flowers and Niamh, Linda and the team at Horetown were, as ever, fantastic.
It was my first time working with Mario of JM Video Studio - he and Daragh of Stargaze Photography made a great team.
2024 is booking up quickly - get in touch if you'd like to know more about making your ceremony the an epic start to your wedding day celebrations.
2025/26 diary is open too!

A glorious autumn day and a perfect one to celebrate love.
The sun streamed through the stained glass windows at Smock Alley Theatre providing a stunning backdrop for these handsome grooms.
Perfectly captured by Bradley Henderson Photography, the ceremony and celebrations afterwards were full of joy, of family and of friendship.
I had a pain in my face from smiling so much!
It was lovely to catch up with Luke Webb Harpist again. Our last wedding together was also at Smock Alley and, as ever, he was brilliant.
A perfect day for a perfect couple.

On a scorching sunny September afternoon, south Wexford and west Cork joined forces to celebrate the gorgeous, smart and kind Heather and Barry.
What a day! With music from Barry’s brother Tomás and friends Hannah and Hugh, the ceremony was full of special moments, laughter, and love.
A true family wedding with Heather’s cousin Faye surprising her on Barry’s behalf with a stunning version of Elton John’s Your song.
Barry’s brother Cian and Heather’s Aunt Caroline read beautifully, leaving a number of guests dabbing their eyes.
Every detail of the day was planned carefully and yet it all felt so very natural. The wedding party and guests were totally relaxed. I’d love to have witnessed the conga around the manicured lawns of Marlfield House Hotel!!
Many thanks to Roger Kenny at The Portrait Room for sharing these images.
It was our second time working together and once again, he captured the emotions of the day beautifully.
Thanks again to Dawn and the team at Marlfield and a huge mile buiochas to Heather & Barry ❤️
When a holiday involves marrying two beautiful humans, and working with an absolute legend.
We had the most amazing, fun, and heartfelt ceremony with family at the centre.

Happy Anniversary to the gorgeous Nora and Mick who were married at Ferrycarrig Hotel last summer.
Coming from Irish and American families, we incorporated their individual heritages into the ceremony.
Vows were exchanged under a Chuppah, using Nora's grandpa's prayer shawl, on a frame made by Mick's uncle. Adorned with flowers from it was a perfect representation of them both.
We then blended sand from their favourite beaches in the US and Ireland using a piece of artwork made by Mick's Aunt.
To complete the ceremony we incorporated a Celtic handfasting - no better way to
Readings reflected lives spent in Ireland and New York and were placed carefully throughout the ceremony, the tone being set with an excerpt from Kurt Vonnegut's 'A Man Without a Country' and Uncle Alex's 'Isn't this nice'....and it was, truly!
With the river Slaney in the background, it was a wonderful introduction to for the American guests - the sun was shining and the breeze off the river was perfect.
A truly glorious day, full of love and laughter and one that will stay in my mind.

Happy anniversary to Stephen & Aisling!
This time last year we celebrated their marriage in front of their family and friends at Durhamstown Castle.
What a venue and what a wedding it was! With an outdoor ceremony cancelled due to rain, our hosts quickly set up the indoor space and the amazing Carolyn and her lovely mum got busy decorating. It was an absolute riot of textures and colours stopping me in my tracks.
THEN….Vlatava String Quartet started playing - my heart! The was stunning and entirely different to any I’ve heard before. I love hearing new artists and adding them to my playlist
Readings were delivered with panache. Hopes and wishes for the couple and all gathered, were read by friends and family, a candle of remembrance burning brightly throughout the ceremony.
It was a truly international affair with guests from around the globe - all of them delighted to bear witness to the commitment Stephen and Aisling were making to each other. Old friends and family greeted each other and new friendships were made.
The team at Durhamstown Castle were amazing - they even sent me off on my drive home with fresh sandwiches and snacks!
The weekend’s festivities were captured gloriously by Roger Kenny and I’m delighted to share some of those images today, the perfect cure for a damp July Sunday!

As the Republic of Ireland's women's soccer team line out today for the FIFA Women's World Cup my heart is full of hope, for the team and for a couple of honeymooners
Earlier this year I celebrated the marriage of two legends, the gorgeous San & Vron, both die hard Liverpool FC fans - obviously I wore red for the occasion!
Celebrating their commitment to each other in front of a close group of family, and friends who are family, the ceremony was full of love, lots of laughter, and quite a bit of singing
Following the signing of the M.R.F for their marriage to be entered in the register they lit a unity candle bringing the love of their families to their new life together
We completed the wedding ceremony with a surprise handfasting using San's scarf to bind them together.
Handfasting was a traditional method of marriage long before the various iterations of the marriage act. Thanks to the 2015 Marriage Act, the love that San & Vron have for each other is now formally recognised by the Irish State
As they walked down the aisle, they were serenaded by their guests to the Liverpool FC anthem You'll Never Walk Alone
There wasn't a dry eye in the room - lots of happy tears for these two wonderful women who will

With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone"

With fabulous and beautiful the ceremony truly represented these two beautiful humans.
We laughed, cried a little - mostly happy tears - and celebrated a love that has traversed the globe. It was a glorious occasion and one that I am immensely proud to have been part of.
The day was captured beautifully by Christopher James Photography
A short time later, Niabh contacted me to say how much she loved what we had created together and felt that she too would like to be a . I was delighted to recommend Entheos Ireland at City Sanctuary to her - she will complete her training later this year!

Mile Buiochas to Oliver Callan for his shout out this morning on RTÉ Radio 1
A seaside garden in the Dunmore House Hotel last weekend was blessed with blue skies and only a kiss of rain at the very beginning.
Before we started, I checked the weather app YR.no One of the groomsmen was busy on the Met Eireann app.
Sometimes we need to ditch tech and just look up - clouds to the left of us, blue skies to the right - and the blue prevailed for the wedding ceremony
Planning for an outdoor wedding in Ireland can be tricky. Don't set your heart on it, just in case the weather doesn't play ball. It's the only thing we Celebrants can't fix for you 😊
Drop me a message if you'd like advice on your ceremony - indoor or outdoor.

Happy Fourth of July to friends and family in the US and happy Anniversary to two beautiful humans who travelled from America last July with their families to celebrate their marriage at the stunning Waterford Castle.
The weather was perfect for a ceremony in the sunken garden, with a gentle breeze rustling in the trees - but just in case, we had a glass casing for our remembrance candle.
A handfasting ceremony was enhanced by the addition of wishing-stones with each of the guests making their wishes for the happy couple - instead of throwing the stones in the nearby river, I invited them to take the stones home as a memento of the day.
The ceremony was underscored by Una on the harp with classical pieces as well as some wonderful Disney classics.
All the emotions on the day were captured by wedding photographer Elaine Barker Photography - all except my slightly awry selfie of our wedding dream team!
The team at Waterford Castle were amazing and looked after us all so very well. I know they will be welcoming these guests back in the years to come.

Happiest of wedding anniversaries to these two beauties!
We had a spectacular day at Johnstown Castle celebrating their marriage last summer.
At the end of the wedding ceremony we had great fun jumping the broom
This wedding tradition symbolises sweeping away the old and starting afresh. Many cultures follow this tradition and it features in British - a new one on our Welsh Groom ❤️
Before they exchanged rings, each guest took a moment to warm the rings with their love and wishes for the couple.
Johnstown Castle, as ever, looked spectacular in the June sunshine & the overseas were mightily impressed
We had Lee from Weddings by Lee & Edyta looking after us (that's him in the background of our selfie!)
This was a perfect wedding day full of love, laughter, friends and family

Happy Anniversary to Kenna & Rob!!
My first ceremony at Wilton Castle & what a day it was.
In the warm spring sunshine, and in the company of their closest family & friends, we bore witness to their love for each other.
Before the ring exchange each guest held the wedding bands, warming the rings with their love & support.
The handfasting was beautiful - each colour chosen by the person laying the ribbon. As they explained their choices, the energy & love was almost tangible.
To see three generations of a family come together to celebrate love was a true honour. Welcoming guests from the US, so soon after lockdown was a joy & a privilege.
Thank you to the Shaws for choosing me to assist with their elopement. I’m delighted your visit to Wexford provided such wonderful memories.
Here’s to an eternity of happiness.

Not the most romantic of reasons for marriage but a stark reality.
Unmarried couples face various issues - including inheritance tax, next of kin issues, and guardianship of children.
If you’re on the fence about marriage, the practical aspects of it are compelling.
As a former legal secretary, it’s something I’ve seen time and again. Many couples believe they have legal rights as a ‘common law spouse’. They don’t.
Don’t take my word for it, check with your solicitor or Citizens Advice.
It’s not very romantic, but tying the knot brings all sorts of benefits for those who are married under Irish law

Thanks to the marvellous mná, Karen Ní Dhíomasaigh, for telling Brigid’s story so succinctly.
Spring is here - new beginnings and a in the evenings!
🔥 Imbolg/Imbolc/St Brigid/Lá Féile Bríd 🔥
Ahh, February 1st, FINALLY!!
SO, it's late in the evening, but there's still time for our annual post about the legendary St Brigid. Midwife, Mystic and Keeper of the Flame 🔥
I don't know about you, but for me that felt like the longest January ever. It's been a long, difficult few years, so this time of year is such an important transition. In the depths of Winter it's easy to feel like everything has stopped and everything is on pause waiting for the Spring to start the regrowth. But the truth is that ALL new life begins in utter darkness, so even when it feels like nothing is happening, we are resting and preparing, and the seeds of new growth are germinating quietly in the darkness so that when spring comes, we are ready.
Today marks the first day of Spring in the Celtic calendar, and the second of the four fire festivals (Samhain, Imbolg, Bealtaine and Lughnasa). It's commonly known as St Brigid's Day, and/or Imbolg.
The word Imbolg is made up of the Irish words "i mBolg" which translate literally to mean "in the stomach", and refers to of the new births of Springtime. It's a metaphor for the swollen bellies of ewes pregnant with lambs, and also the Earth pregnant with all the new life of the Spring. The seeds of life are planted- Winter is pregnant with Summer, and it's around now that it begins to show ❤
Bríd was one of our many great Celtic pre-Christian Priestesses who was canonised (hijacked?!) by the Church and reborn into one St Brigid as part of their appropriation of large chunks of our Celtic spiritual heritage. A cunning plan, but which never quite managed to quash our Celtic spirit 😎
St Brigid is commonly associated with healing, fertility and birth, and so it should come as no surprise that as a midwife and wise woman, her healing skills enabled her to not only cultivate pregnancy and birth, but also to end them, with skill and compassion, where necessary ❤
In 650 AD a biographer of Brigid, Cogitosus, told the story of a young woman who had broken her vow of chastity and fell pregnant as a result. She went to see Brigid, and Brigid caused the fetus to disappear without coming to birth, and without pain. At the time this was considered a miracle, but today she would be excommunicated for it- how times change!
Brigid was also documented to have shared her life with a female partner- Darlughdach, who was known as her Anam Cara. Brigid died of natural causes on Feb. 1, 525, aged 70. The bond between the women was so close that Darlughdach followed her soulmate in death exactly one year later on Feb. 1, 526 💔
The tales of Brigid all carry a strong pagan undertone, and her magic is a core feature. We all know the tale of Brigid's cloak, where she asked the King of Leinster for the land to build her monastery. He refused, until she said she only wanted "a piece of land as big as her cloak", so he agreed, thinking this monastery could be no threat to his Kingdom. So Brigid asked four helpers to each take a corner of her cloak and each walk in the four directions- north, south, east and west, and her cloak spread and spread across the acres until she had enough land for her monastery 😉
Sickener for the King of Leinster 😎
And so we see how Brigid has been thoroughly sanitised by the Catholic Church- but still her spirit shines through. She's a rebel, a firestarter and midwife of opportunity, so a great Archetype to hold close at this time of year. 😇
Ooh also, her name means 'fiery arrow', she is the beloved patron Saint of Co Kildare, and the Kildare train service is named in her honour- the Arrow 🚂
It's also interesting to note that the Catholic Church celebrates Candlemas tomorrow, February 2nd, as the day candles were lit to purify Mary 40 days after the birth of Jesus. It's also the date that Churches consecrate their candles for the year. Interesting that all this pious candle-lighting coincides so neatly with the Celtic Fire festivals?! 🕯🔥
So enjoy the remaining darkness folks, and get ready for the light 🌥
The past few years have been rough, and this winter brought more was another tough one on our health services, but when we look to nature we are reminded of how the cycles of life continue, gently and joyfully, regardless.
Even the darkest night will end, and the day will come❤️
Lá féile Bríd sona daoibh go léir. Fáilte Féabhra 🌱✨

post wedding blues were quick to kick in!
I was delighted to receive this testimonial from a wedding held back in May. The clients were a delight to work with. It was a small, family focussed wedding celebrating love - the love the couple have for each other, and the love heaped on them by their families.
We should never take love for granted and these two certainly didn't.
I love my work and this wedding was one where my heart was bursting with pride for the ceremony we three together crafted.
If choice is important to you, talk to me about creating your ideal ceremony.

Why be a Wedding Celebrant?
Ireland 2007: Our wedding date was set for late June and we waited patiently for the 2004 ‘Wedding Act’ to kick into Irish Law. This would mean that we (the ever patient John, and I) could be married by our local Registrar in a location other than her office. A lovely woman, our Registrar, but her office......despite her valiant efforts to beautify it, was small and situated in the local health centre. Health centres tend to be full of not so healthy children. Lots of runny noses, sore ears and tears. Not an ideal combination for a wedding dress/suit. I was desperate for the law to change before our wedding date. We would never fit all our guests into the office and who to invite was becoming a tad contentious. We waited and waited, eventually coming to the conclusion that we had two choices, move the wedding date and hope the law would come into force ‘soon’ or suck it up and make the best of it. Given that it was three years after ‘wedding Act’ was agreed, and Irish legislators move slowly, we decided to make the best of it. (It eventually came into force in November 2007!)
We broke the news to our close family members - there was simply not enough room in the office for everyone and so, on the 28th June, off we trotted, me with my parents, John with his Dad and sister. The ceremony was brief but joyful. The Registrar said the necessary formula of words to legally marry us, we smiled for the camera, signed the register and hey-presto - we were married. No friends, no extended family.
(Don’t feel bad - we had lunch in a Georgian country house and then headed back to Rosslare where we live, for a late dinner with guests from the UK, Canada and America. This was just a warm up!)
The following day, everyone arrived at our house and we celebrated the wedding all over again. A friend sang, another read. We blessed the house and our wedding rings with water from a nearby Holy Well. Our friends blessed us too (some a little too vigorously!!) Even if the law had come into force, the Registrar would not have married us in our chosen venue (the garden) as it was private property.
This got me thinking. What about other couples planning weddings; the ones that couldn’t or wouldn’t have a church service. What was there for them? I made enquiries but nothing was open to me. I didn’t want to become a Humanist or a Spiritualist just so that I could become a Wedding Celebrant. I didn’t want to fake a belief, even if it meant I could have a career doing what I knew I would love. I shelved the idea (but not too high up) and re-visited it everyone now and again.
Finally, in 2017, I trained with the Irish Institute of Celebrants and on the 26th November, along with some truly remarkable people, I became an accredited Celebrant.
That’s the long version.
Why be a Celebrant, part two....
(The shorter version). Why not? I love meeting new people. I have a natural curiosity that I have finally channeled into a legitimate way of asking questions. I love a good love story and sharing good news and joyful occasions with others. I love to research wedding traditions, songs and readings; there’s nothing quite like the challenge of finding the perfect words for a ceremony.
I love weddings and family celebrations. The food, the music, the dancing (even though I can’t/don’t dance). I find a lot of weddings are about the party and not the marriage. I want to change that by putting the focus on back on the reason why we are gathered together. By listening to the story of the couple and joining in the celebration of their love for each other, we give them the greatest wedding gift of all.
I’ve also spent my life listening to people sing “Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes” when they hear my name (check out Edison Lighthouse) and perhaps that has something to do with it. Whatever the reason, if you want a Celebrant full of enthusiasm, joy and quirky facts about wedding traditions, I’m your woman.
If you want someone to lead a flashmob...... I don’t dance, remember?
