A forest of eucalyptus⁣
a stream, in the dusk and a fireless camp. ⁣
Birds wake me. ⁣
They sing to each other in the morning dark, moving lightly, between the trees. ⁣
I am finding it harder to find beauty. ⁣
Where I look, I see history. ⁣
But my soul is defiant. ⁣

Deep in the folds of the mountains of Japan blooms a rare flower, キヌガサソウ. Kinugasasō. “Paris Japonica.”

It stirs in the darkness.
Begins to bloom.
The petals awaken, move, less than an inch.
8 nights in the dark then their star shaped petals open to face the stars, ablaze.

The universe mirrors itself
in these flowers.
A mirror hidden in the mountains.
Luminescent starfish
in the oceans
mirror the mountains
