🌱spring in Delhi is so short. It comes with an abundance of colourful flowers everywhere and in a few weeks it’s over. Here’s a celebration of the beauty of the season with homegrown garden flowers, Dahlia and lupine with pomegranate branches just sprouting new leaves.

🌱 palm stalks inspired this design.
I like to look for possibles in the discarded garden materials.
The large withered palm leaves couldn’t be used, but the stalks provided the perfect foil for the Dombeya wallichii branches laden with blooms from the shrub in my garden.

Dombeya is tricky to use as the flowers hang facing down like a tassel. I think they complimented each other nicely don’t you think ?

🌱Celebrating the 75th year of India’s independence.
The colours of the Indian flag - the tri colours 🇮🇳 saffron, white and green depicted in this arrangement along with the navy blue of the central chakra (wheel).

🌱 Arrangement without flowers using only greens and wicker balls as the dried material.
An all green vertical composition,the colour pop coming from the selfmade ceramic vase in orange colour.

🌱Inspired by the soft colour palette of the forests in the Himalayas just before it goes into the autumn colours.

🌱Trekking in the mountains of Kashmir was an exhilarating experience. Was expecting to see fall in its full glory, sadly it was delayed.
Well, just means another trip to paradise….

🌱A lone tree with with blushing pink clusters against dark green foliage caught my eye.

🌱Koelreuteria tree seeds are enclosed in inflated papery capsules.
They were out of reach but climbing on the roof of the car did the trick.

🌱This new vase provide the perfect colour contrast for the branch material. The dark purple Eustoma connects the 2 colours of the ceramic container and branches. Giving it a nice autumn vibe.

🌱Finally out … first of a series of ceramic vases I’ve created especially for Ikebana.

🌱As an Ikebana artist one can’t have enough containers…. Ever.
Vases don’t have to be the foundation of a design but more often than not they do become the starting point of the process of creating an arrangement.

🌱Not only is the vase made from scratch but all the materials, flowers and green are also from my garden.
A truly satiating creative experience.

🌱Infinity- that which is boundless or endless.
The symbol of infinity ♾ is a lazy eight curve or a figure eight on it’s side signifying the concept of eternity or limitlessness.

🌱The symbol depicted by the dried branches of asparagus on one side giving way to fresh new growth on the opposite side…. Repeated everlasting processes, going on forever, continued

Dried teak tree leaves and peacock feathers gathered from the park.
Summer leaves give way to fresh foliage. The Peacock sheds its feathers having succeeded in wooing a female through an elaborate ritual dance showing off its gorgeous feathers.

🌱Celebrating India’s 75th Independence Day. 🇮🇳
A salute to the tricolour of the Indian flag- saffron, white and green with the blue Chakra in the middle.

🌱The top band is of saffron colour indicating the strength and courage of the country.The white middle band indicating peace and truth with Dharma Chakra. The last band green colour shows the fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.

🌱Combining fresh and unconventional material- paper - raffia ribbon wrapped around cane swirls.
Ipomea in mauve colour and Mukara orchids for a dash of colour.

🌱Young Coconut leaves woven into a horizontal structure, Curcuma and Lotus seed pods complete the arrangement.
The green of the pods match the green streak on the vase.

🌱Young Coconut leaves dry up in a matter of hours when exposed to dry hot weather.
They loose their soft green colour but are still pliable. It’s rare find in Delhi so used it anyway.
