INDIAN ARMY FELICITATED WOMEN ACHIEVERS TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY AT KUPWARA.
On the occasion of International Womenโs Day, Indian Armyโs Kupwara Terriers organised an event where in local woman achievers were able to put forth the story of their journey to success and motivate the girls and woman present.
The chief guests of the event were Col Pooja, Chauhan, who is commanding 175 TA (Engineers) and Mrs Daljit Kaur, who is SHO of woman cell of JKP at Kupwara. The event was attended by about 100 women of Kupwara region. Amongst them were nine achievers from the fields of entrepreneurship, Sports, teaching and law who were felicitated for their success.
The chief guests while addressing the audience, emphasised upon the need for woman to be strong and supportive to each other. Declaring one day for celebration of womenโs day is successful only when she is respected and honoured all days of the year. It is the woman who makes the house grooms the children and thus develops the society. The achievers narrated their success stories and stressed upon the need for woman to be focused on their dreams and work hard to achieve the same.
The commanding officer while quoting Guru Nanak Dev Ji ensured the audience present that they cannot be less than anyone if they decide to be strong and committed to the womanhood.
At last, all participants, highly appreciated the efforts of Indian Army, their constructive approach towards women empowerment and providing suitable platforms to showcase their talent and be independent.

GOC 28 INFANTRY DIVISION PAYS TRIBUTE TO KUPWARA TERRIERS BRAVEHEART LATE LT COL K S NATT, SM
Kupwara 26 Dec 23: In line with the Armed Forces rich legacy of honouring it's fallen heroes, Kupwara Terriers organised a wreath laying ceremony at Patahirri Garrison, Kupwara to commemorate and honour the sacrifice and martyrdom of Late Lt Col K S Natt, SM of 160 Inf Bn (TA) (H&H) JAK RIF.
Lt Col Karanbir Singh Natt, Sena Medal, was in coma for last eight years after sustaining serious injuries in an encounter with terrorists in Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015. The Officer passed away on 24 December in Military Hospital, Jalandhar.
Late Lt Col K S Natt, SM was posted with 160 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army at the time of encounter in November 2015 while leading a combing operation against terrorists holed up in a densely forested area of Manigah, Kupwara.
During the search, the Officer along with his party approached close to the location of terrorists. Suddenly he was charged by a Fidayen terrorist and was grievously injured. However, despite his injuries and without any concern to his own safety, he advanced towards the terrorist's location and eliminated him. The Officer was evacuated from the encounter site on priority to 168 MH Drugmulla, and after being treated at 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar and Army's R & R Hospital, Delhi was shifted to MH Jalandhar where he was in a comatose state since 2015. He breathed his last on 25th Dec 23 at Military Hospital Jhalander.
Lt Col Natt was originally commissioned as a Short Service Commissioned Officer in The Brigade of Guards in 1998 and served in the regular Army for 14 years before being relieved in 2012.He joined the Territorial Army following his complet

UNDER NATIONAL CAMPAIGN "SWACHHATA HI SEVA" INDIAN ARMY CONDUCTED CLEANLINESS DRIVE AT PATHAHIRRI KUPWARA
Kupwara 01 Oct 23: In a remarkable display of community spirit and determination Indian Army's Kupwara Terriers witnessed a successful implementation of the "Swachhata hi Seva" campaign despite the challenging obstacles in remote area of Kupwara. This initiative, aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation, brought together residents of Hirri village and Indian Army to address a pressing issue in the area. The campaign, which is a part of the larger Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, is a nationwide movement aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene in rural areas. While the initiative has gained significant traction across the country, organizing such activities in remote regions like Pathahirri Kupwara presents unique challenges.
A cleanliness drive was conducted by Indian Army's Kupwara Terriers at Pir Mohalla Hirri along with some local volunteers to clean this particular area from garbage , trash and polythene bags randomly thrown by the villagers. This drive was conducted under the supervision of Commanding officer Kupwara Terriers who himself actively participated in the drive along with his soldiers. This cleanliness drive saw a participation of over 100 Indian Army soldiers, officers and locals.
After the cleanliness drive Indian Army and residents of Hirri village can take pride in their collective achievement and look forward to a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant community in the days to come. "Swachhata Hi Seva" has indeed left an indelible mark on the hearts of the people, proving that cleanliness is not just a duty but a way of life.
