Hindu Marriage Act, 1995
In the modern world, we use the words such as “marriage” and “weddings” very loosely, but we forget the significance of the meaning behind them. However, our legal system isn’t lagging on the definition of a legitimate wedding ❤️
According to the Hindu marriage act, a marriage is legitimate only when two consenting Hindus are forming a union in which the bride is 18 and the groom is 21 of age can get married in a legal court. On the other hand, two adults who are not Hindus can get married under the Special Marriage Act as long as both are consenting 😊
The real question lies with how a couple can get married during this pandemic without the availability of actual wedding ceremonies? According to the court, you can go to the nearest court with proof of your marriage i.e. wedding photographs and invites from the bride and groom’s sides 💃
The option to get your wedding registered online is also available in Delhi but not in major cities. So if you are looking to get your marriage registered you have to have a ceremony in order to be legally married! 👫
