Here are some glimpses from yet another session of A Taste of World Music, our continuing initiative to bring varied musical cultures from across the globe to school-students in India.

Students of Shishuvan School in Matunga and Little Angels International School in Sion took a musical trip to the Scottish Highlands, learning ancient gaelic song and tunes with vocalist Mischa Macpherson and Andrew Waite on the accordion.

Tender Roots is pleased to present yet another edition of InFusion - an inter-school Music Band Competition on 28th January 2023, at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi.

InFusion is a inter-school fusion music band competition that engages school children and challenges them to perform fusion music. We hope to kindle their artistic abilities to create new music through this endeavor.

The winning band stands a chance to perform at a grand festival at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Fort.

Some glimpses from this past morning, where Tender Roots had the pleasure of presenting a special program for children - ENCHANTING DRUMS OF INDIA - in association with Sanskriti Pratishthan in Delhi.

Students were taken on a vibrant journey across India, as they witnessed percussionists from Rajasthan, Kerala and Manipur.

A range of diverse and unique instruments and forms were presented to the children, giving them an opportunity to learn about the rich cultural (rhythmic) heritage of our country.

Tomorrow, the 4th of November 2022, we shall be conducting a Camp as a part of The Kamicha Project initiative at the Arna Jharna Museum in association with the Komal Kothari School of Folk Music.

Tender Roots - through its most recent cause called "Meri Kala Meri Pehchaan" - is proud to have launched The Kamaicha Project - an ongoing initiative that is working to revive the practice of the Kamaicha, an ancient stringed instrument that is the very backbone of Manganiar Music from Rajasthan.

Identifying Senior Practitioners of the instrument and scouting young musicians who can be trained to play the instrument into the future, this project ensures that the instrument does not fade away from public memory, and that it remains a strong and intrinsic part of the Manganiyar identity.

A phenomenal saxophonist and band leader, the Dutch musician Ben van den Dungen has been involved in making and performing Jazz Music for decades now. With a sturdy foundation in Jazz, he has spent time understanding and imbibing other genres and musical cultures as well, also studying Indian Classical Music for a number of years.

Come witness his impeccable playing at Jazz for Kids in Mumbai - on the 5th of June at St. Andrew’s Auditorium, Bandra (W).

Jazz Vocalist Deborah J. Carter was born in the USA, and grew up in Hawaii and Japan - bringing a range of multi-cultural influences into her music. She tours extensively around the world, as a part of various Jazz Groups, also teaching and conducting Masterclasses for Jazz Music.

She will be performing at Jazz for Kids - an exclusive concert for children in Mumbai, on the 5th of June, at the St. Andrew’s Auditorium, Bandra (W).

Born in a musical family in the Netherlands, Bas Toscani sought inspiration early and was trained in playing the trumpet and the cornet. Today, he is among the most accomplished jazz horn players, performing world-over, and collaborating with a host of international musicians.
