From wearing bright colourful masks, enacting Goddess Durga and Mahishasura, and learning the basic steps of the ancient chhau dance, the Chhau Mask Exhibition held at the last edition of Root Folkways in Delhi and Mumbai gave students an opportunity to experience it all!

The core agenda of Tender Roots has always been exposing young minds to the arts and cultural traditions from India and all over the world. But we are also aware that unless we create a lasting impression on these children we cannot truly make an impact.

For this very reason we make sure that every session that we organize is interactive and engaging so that the children get involved in a particular art form or activity as much as the artist; giving them an in-depth experience that would stay with them forever.

Mallakhamb and Lezim were two such forms presented at Root Folkways this year at which the children tried their hands. Their happy and bright faces motivates us to continue with our agenda with more zest.

The upcoming edition of Root Folkways is scheduled on 15th and 16th of January 2025 - at and in association with the Children's Museum, CSMVS, Fort.

The Tender Roots team ended the year on a cheerful note with 3 successful sessions of 'A Taste of World Music' in the month of November and December.

Three international artists - Ida Lala (Indonesia), Hosoo Khosbayar (Mongolia), Ismet Aydin (Turkey) were presented at sessions in Shreyas School and ASIA English High School (Ahmedabad) and Shishuvan School (Mumbai) - giving the children an opportunity to closely experience music from 3 distinct parts of the world.

Each session involved a beautiful interaction between the artists and the students - where they exchanged various ideas, sharing aspects from their respective cultures.

We look forward to many more such engaging sessions in the coming year - bringing students across India closer to the rich performing arts from India and the world.

Tender Roots is glad to be back with yet another edition of *Children's World Music Festival*. This festival was introduced by us to expose the children to music from all corners of the world widening their artistic & cultural horizons.

Tender Roots is glad to conduct Indian Classical Music Auditions for children in the Hubli-Dharwad region, a site with a rich history related to the development of this art-form.

We are looking for young and talented musicians between the ages of 8 to 16, who have undergone a minimum 3 to 5 years of training in Indian classical vocal or instrumental music.

Selected participants would be made a part of the Tender Roots talent pool, opening doors for prestigious performance opportunities at our varied initiatives and festivals bringing children closer to the performing arts.

Tender Roots visited the Rajghat Besant School on 7th September marking the end of the Folk Fiesta tour.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and their joyous response in turn made this visit a wholesome experience for both the Artists and the Tender roots team, giving a perfect end to this journey.

The Tender roots team visited the Achyut Patwardhan Community School on 7th September. This turned out to be another successful visit under the Folk Fiesta title as the students witnessed the 'Kathputli' presentation with utmost awe and enjoyed it thoroughly.

The students of Delhi Public School, Varanasi were captivated by the 'Kathputli' presentation by Khairati Ram Bhatt Ji's troupe.

'Folk Fiesta' travelled to DPS School on the 6th of September giving the children a chance to experience the rich culture of India.

The Tender roots team was delighted to see the enthusiastic response by the students of Pallavanjali School after witnessing the 'Kathputli' show presented by Khairati Ram Bhatt Ji's troupe.

Folk Fiesta tour travelled to Pallavanjali School, Gurgaon on 4th September giving the children an exciting opportunity to witness and heartily enjoy this rich cultural tradition from Rajasthan.

The students were excited to witness ‘Kathputli’ presented by Khairati Ram Bhatt ji’s troupe - in a performance that captivated their imagination and enabled them to imbibe elements of our nation’s historical sagas and folk legends.

Tender Roots Academy of Performing Arts was pleased with its initiative ‘Folk Fiesta’ in schools in Gurugram - featuring ‘Kathputli’, a traditional string puppet theatre form from the desert region of Rajasthan.

Students of Manav Rachna International School engaged with Khairati Ram Bhatt and the team’s innovative display of handmade puppets which are more than mere decorative dolls; but an integral part of a long-standing tradition that brings events from history, mythology, folklore, and legend to life.

This activity offered students a unique opportunity to engage with India's rich cultural heritage and this ancient art of storytelling through puppetry, serving as a unique blend of entertainment, education, and cultural preservation.
